Seth Meyers reportedly roasted Donald Trump after the president claimed that his uncle had invented the radar. Meyers mocked Trump by saying that it was time for the president to ace another cognitive exam on the October 28 episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers. He said,

"While speaking to reporters on Saturday after voting, President Trump said that his uncle invented radar. And you know what that means. Time to ace another cognitive exam."

Independent journalist Aaron Rupar first reported that the president made the remarks on October 24, 2026, while participating in early voting for the 2026 midterm elections in Palm Beach, Florida. Standing beside his wife, Melania, Trump claimed that his uncle invented radar. He then added that his uncle would probably be upset that he had knocked out Iran's radar system.

In reality, the president's uncle didn't invent radar. The Irish Star revealed that the first widely recognized practical radar system was patented by Sir Robert Watson-Watt, whose work built on earlier research and developments by leaders such as Heinrich Hertz and Christian Hülsmeyer.

On Late Night with Seth Meyers, the host roasted Donald Trump's claim that his uncle invented radar. Meyers mocked the president and said the remark about inventing radar was enough for him to pass another cognitive test with ease.

Meyers made the joke about Trump's cognitive exam because the president had recently repeated claims about his intelligence and cognitive test results but made the inaccurate statement that his uncle invented radar.

According to the American Physical Society, Sir Robert Watson-Watt first invented radar. His invention helped Britain defend itself in World War II. The foundation of radar technology was laid in the 1880s when German physicist Heinrich Hertz successfully generated and transmitted radio waves across his laboratory.

Through his experiments, he confirmed that these invisible waves were a type of electromagnetic radiation and observed that some materials allowed radio waves to pass through, while others reflected them.

Meyers' remark referenced Donald Trump's appearance at a campaign rally in Bullhead City, Arizona, on October 14, 2026, where he spoke about cognitive exams and praised his own performance.

According to Politico, Trump told his MAGA crowd that the test involved remembering five words and argued that his critics would not be able to complete the same tasks. Trump also claimed that he solved difficult questions quickly and used those results as proof that he had a sharp mind.

Trump later criticized Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs and described her as unintelligent. The president also said that he took a mental test during his physical examinations and claimed that he had always passed those tests perfectly.
