1) Maxwell Simkins as Carter Parker

Riley Parker's son, Carter, is portrayed by Maxwell Simkins. His character has immense exuberance, with a side of mayhem and impulsive energy. Simkins' comedic delivery as Carter is on point.

Apart from this sitcom, the young actor has appeared in 3 Generations, The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers and Home Team.

2) Barrett Margolis as Georgia Parker

Riley's daughter and Carter's sister, Georgia, is played by Barrett Margolis. Her character brings about a fresh, unique response to the family chaos, adding more to the absurdity in the Parker household.

Margolis has only worked on screen in Shifting Gears. She has had extensive experience on stage from a very tender age.

3) Daryl "Chill" Mitchell as Stitch

Actor Daryl "Chill" Mitchell embodies the role of Stitch in Shifting Gears Season 2. A co-worker of Matt at the car restoration shop, Stitch, brings about a sense of tranquility in his presence. He is the most collected and centered character amidst all the hullabaloo.

4) Seann William Scott as Gabriel

To add to the tomfoolery, we have Seann William Scott as the idiosyncratic and adorable Gabriel to the mix. He and the Parker family go way back, as he has had a long, unwavering association with the family. Gabriel's character brings a blend of tenderness and comicality.

Apart from this role, the actor is well recognized for his work in American Pie, Final Destination, The Dukes of Hazzard, Lethal Weapon, etc. He is also the voice behind Crash in the Ice Age films. In fact, who can possibly forget his portrayal of the iconic Steve Stifler, a character who we all love to hate?

5) Kat Dennings as Riley Parker

For the role of Riley Parker, we have Kat Dennings embodying the vivacious and sarcastic character. The daughter of Matt, Riley, undergoes a stressful divorce and is also having financial constraints. Therefore, she and her children stay with Matt. Riley is a woman who is navigating the complexities related to her own individuality and parenthood.

Other than this sitcom, Dennings is established for her work in The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Big Momma's House 2, 2 Broke Girls, Shorts, Dollface, and also for her portrayal of Darcy Lewis in multiple MCU films and series.

6) Tim Allen as Matt Parker

And finally, we have Matt Parker — the central figure of Shifting Gears. The traditional patriarch of the Parker household is portrayed by veteran actor Tim Allen. He operates a car restoration shop and takes immense pride in everything he has done in life. He is rigid, iron-willed and straightforward. He is the kind of man who deeply values his own principles, order and skilfulness.

After the passing of his wife, Matt struggles to channel his feelings of grief as well as being openly vulnerable. However, after the return of his daughter and his grandchildren, he is compelled to sit with his emotions and do the difficult inner work.

Apart from this role, the Golden Globe-winning actor is well distinguished for his work in Home Improvement, The Santa Clause franchise, Galaxy Quest, The Shaggy Dog, and The Six Wives of Henry Lefay, to name a few. He has also lent his voice to the character of Buzz Lightyear in the Toy Story films.

Along with the main cast, we also have guest appearances by Jesse Williams and Luke Macfarlane in episode 12 of Shifting Gears Season 2. Williams plays the role of Andy, whereas Macfarlane portrays the role of Sam Parker.
