Shoresy is NOT a kids’ hockey show, no matter how fun the jerseys and locker room scenes look.

If you are thinking about watching it with kids sitting beside you, then don't. The language is very loud, and the crude humour is catered towards adults. The show has a TV-MA rating.

The show is packed with swearing, bar culture, and rough "locker room talk". Even when the story focuses on teamwork and saving a struggling hockey team, the tone is never really family-friendly.

This guide here breaks down exactly what makes Shoresy better suited for older teens and adults. Read below to find out more.

Use of strong language in Shoresy

The major reason Shoresy has a TV-MA rating is because of the kind of language that the characters use. Swearing is not a once-in-a-while thing, but it's present at almost every scene.

The F-word and other strong words are being said constantly during the games, in the locker room, and even in conversations between most of the characters and are often used for jokes.

This is the kind of dialogue that defines the show. The humor actually does depend on crude insults and words spoken that are packed with profanity. Younger kids will hear strong language over and over again without any filter and for many families, this alone makes the show an unsuitable watch for the younger ones.

The show also includes a lot of sexual jokes and blunt comments about bodies and relationships. Most of the jokes are spoken rather than anything being exclusively sexual visually, but the tone of it all is still very adult-based.

And so, if you are trying to keep your kids away from swearing and sexual jokes, Shoresy is a show that you should most definitely avoid.

Hockey fights, bar culture, and mature humor run through every season

Shoresy follows a struggling hockey team trying to stay alive, so physical action while playing the game is always part of the story and so, you should expect on-ice fights, punches, and aggressive play between the teams.

Off the ice, the team also spends a lot of their time while they're drinking and hanging out. Beer, shots, and smoking show up in nearly every season. There are also references to drugs that pop up in conversations, too, which highlights this casual party culture between the characters, which may not be something parents want their kids to be copying.

There are also really small scenes with sexual situations, like, for instance, a couple is shown in bed. Dance club scenes also come in with some heavy flirting and intense make-out scenes.

None of it is meant for any kind of shock value, but it clearly pushes the show into a show that has been made for older teens and adults only.

Shoresy might look like a fun and silly hockey comedy show (and it is), but it is not a show meant for kids. The constant use of swear words, sexual jokes, and drinking makes this very clear within just a few minutes of watching the show.

And if you add in the fights and occasional nudity? The TV-MA rating makes 100% sense.

For parents wondering about the right age, older teens around 16 to 18 should be considered to be in the safe zone. However, even then, it depends on comfort with heavy language and adult humor. And hence, if you want a clean sports show for your kids, this is not the one to pick.
