Junichi, Naoto, Makiko, and Keisuke go to the place where they hid the time capsule and find that somebody else was there before because of it being recently dug up. The four childhood friends open it and find the gun missing from it. Junichi, being the investigator in the case, felt that one of his friends had taken the gun. He even asks if they gave the location or code to anyone, but everyone says no.

Keisuke says sorry for taking the gun in the first place, and Naoto says sorry for coming up with the idea of a time capsule. Junichi also apologizes for coming up with the idea of going to the forest on that day.

Though Keisuke gets angry at Junichi at one point for asking too many questions. Junichi asks Keisuke in private about Masaki's shoplifting, and Keisuke denies it. After all, Makiko has told him not to share anything with Junichi.

Junichi warns him of the consequences they can face for hiding the truth, and Keisuke lets him know that he will tell everything to the police after talking to Makiko.

Nara was happy with the news that Junichi convinced Keisuke and Makiko to tell everything to the police. Makiko reveals that Hideyuki called her to tell her about the shoplifting and asked for money. They agreed to pay the amount so that he wouldn't report it to the police. They were afraid that Masaki wouldn't get admission if the news came out.

When asked about the security footage, Keisuke says he got nervous during the transaction and thought he would meet Hideyuki again to get it, but that day never came, as Hideyuki was murdered.

After they leave, Nara tells Junichi that she knows that they were the first four people to discover Officer Kiyohara's body in the forest. She even asks Junichi to arrange a meeting with his friends.

Junichi still has doubts, and he goes to meet Makiko in her salon, where he gets introduced to Masaki. The two play ball and have a good time together. Junichi later asks Makiko if she ever opened the time capsule, and Makiko says that she doesn't have any accomplice, nor did she open the time capsule.

During the second meeting with Nara, Keisuke and Makiko are individually asked about their meetings, and both give the exact same answers, which puts more doubt in Nara's mind.

Nara questions Makiko, Junichi, Keisuke, and Naoto about the forest incident

Junichi sets up a meeting between Nara and his three friends, and Nara tells them that the gun used to kill Hideyuki was the same gun that disappeared twenty-three years ago. While Makiko and Naoto kept a normal face, Keisuke overreacted to her statements.

She asks if they are hiding any important details from the past when they discovered the officer's body. The four friends answer that the information provided to the police is accurate, and they don't remember much about the incident.

They even lie about the gun, saying that it was already missing by the time they discovered the officer's body. Nara is surely not buying all of their words and still doubts them.

Later, Junichi goes around to find more details on the case and comes to know that there was a man roaming near the school premises before Hideyuki died. He came in his SUV with a Shinagawa license plate, which belongs to Keisuke. Junichi thinks that Makiko and Keisuke were hiding the truth all along from the police.

The Silent Truth episode 3 also gave a flashback of Junichi coming to see Makiko when she was working as a waitress. However, he doesn't meet her and goes back.
