Sinestro's new look from the midseason trailer sparked a wide debate among his fans regarding his prison escape. In Lanterns Season 1 Episode 2, viewers saw him in prison, captured by the Guardians.

Fans are speculating about the fictional character's storyline, not making factual legal claims. One fan, Sanmeyo, asked on X about Sinestro's possible prison escape:

"Wait, his costume looks different. Did bruh escape prison or what."

Sanmeyo was surprised and curious to see Sinestro after noticing a change in his appearance in the midseason trailer. The new look contrasts sharply with his standard prison garb on Oa, but Sanmeyo thought he was ready to escape from there. The fan humorously guessed that the villain may manage a dramatic breakout.

How was Sinestro imprisoned in Lanterns?

In Lanterns episode 2 titled Trust Fall, Sinestro found the injured Prohl Gosgotha near an ancient site he had been studying and then took his ring to fight a Qwardian. He destroyed Gosgotha's attacker with the help of that ring, and soon after he returned to the crash and found Gosgotha alive.

Gosgotha then asked him to return his ring, but he refused and let the Green Lantern die while deceiving the Guardians into believing he was the ring's rightful new bearer. In this way, he quickly rose as a highly effective and respected Green Lantern.

Later, he used the ring's power to become a strict ruler over Korugar. A young Hal Jordan was then assigned as Sinestro's trainee. As they grew close, Hal started facing problems with Sinestro's harsh methods, and so he eventually reported him to the Guardians, who imprisoned him.
