Slow Horses Season 6 episode 4 spoiler clip teases River and Sid looking for a payphone

According to the Slow Horses Season 6 episode 4 preview clip released exclusively by Decider, River and Sid will be arriving at the bowling alley, Nova Bowl, looking for a payphone so that they can call Diana Taverner for help. In Slow Horses Season 6 episode 3, we saw them surviving the assassination attempt by Jim and Jane, who are now confirmed to be Russian operatives.

The clip opens with River and Sid arriving at Nova Bowl and approaching the cashier at the register. The cashier, Phil, tells them that the lines are closed for the night, after which the duo assures him that they don't want to play, they need to make an emergency call. Phil asks them dryly:

"You don't have phones?"

The strangely normal question, asked in such a dry way, when Sid and River are trying to reach Taverner as soon as possible gives the scene some much-appreciated humor. Phil then says there's a payphone by the lanes, but when River and Sid are about to go use it, Phil stops them. Despite their requests, Phil just says:

"We're closing up. Sorry."

Phil then goes back to typing on the register computer and doesn't pay River and Sid any attention. There's an awkward silence for a while after which River tries to bribe Phil by sliding over a bill. But Phil isn't impressed. In a hilarious moment, he asks:

“What’s that then?"

River understands that the bribe isn't going to work and takes the bill back as Phil asks:

"Was that a bribe?”

Sid then proposes that they'll buy a lane just to be able to use the payphone. But Phil reminds them that the bowling alley has closed and so has the register, as it always closes electrically by itself during closing time. Phil then drops a line that leaves River and Sid flabbergasted for a few seconds. To make them understand how he really can't open the register, Phil says:

“And after that, no man born from his mother can open it.”

As a last resort, Sid begins to fake cry and says:

“Sorry, it’s just my brother, he’s not in his right mind, and we lost him, and he should have been back at the hospital by now. We’re just really worried that he might do something to himself. Sorry.”

The beautifully executed lie surprisingly works, and then the scene cuts to Sid and River at the payphone. River, evidently impressed but concerned, says:

“You know, the ease with which you lie is actually quite sociopathic."

Sid replies sarcastically, saying:

“What, like an agent? Like a secret agent?”

The clip ends there, and we don't see them actually connect to Taverner by call. But the short exchange between them at the payphone reminds one of their bond from Season 1.

Besides what the clip revealed, the logline for Slow Horses Season 6 episode 4 reveals what we can expect from the upcoming episode. The logline of the episode, according to Apple TV, is:
