The adult animated sitcom, Smiling Friends, has released a short special immediately before the Season 3 finale. The short film, "Card Game," dropped on March 26, 2026, on the YouTube channel of Adult Swim.
The series is popular for its higgledy-piggledy humor, packed with an absurd bunch of characters, along with its whimsical storytelling. Created by Michael Cusack and Zach Hadel, this series explores how a group of employees working at a micro enterprise strive to lift the spirits of the sorrowful. However, their way of bringing a smile to their faces is often through a madcap caper.

"Smiling Shorts: Card Game" — How a casual card game session takes a dark turn in this new Smiling Friends short
The freshly dropped short, "Smiling Shorts: Card Game" stretches up to 1 minute, 18 seconds. As the film opens, we see the OG characters Charlie, Pim, Alan, and Glep sitting together for a card game. It is all easy-going and regular, until all hell breaks loose when something really outlandish takes place!
In the video, we see Pim struggling to comprehend the card game, and is asking for clarification. Excitedly, Allan and Charlie explain to him the rules together whilst they speak over each other. Expectedly, Pim does not understand a single word, and Charlie takes over to spell it out to him. Ultimately, both Allan and Charlie suggest Pim roll a three. They encourage him to draw a card first, and then make the toss. He reluctantly picks a card, and, oh no!
As soon as Pim shows his card and asks for their approval, Charlie starts freaking out. He goes ballistic, drops his chair as he gets up, and keeps uttering, "No, oh my god. No, it's not."
We get to know that the card Pim innocently picked is not a usual one. As revealed by Charlie, it is a 'devil demon card'. All the four are in complete disarray, and immediately a devilish figure casts their shadow in the room. Everything around starts trembling. Terror has arrived upon the arrival of the hellish entity, as it breaks through the wall.
Previously, the makers of Smiling Friends had released two shorts, "Pim's New Eyes" and "Roy Dismey", before Season 3 had dropped. These small, fast-paced clips offer a new possibility for the makers to try out innovative gags outside the usual episodes and seasons. Despite its brief run-time, it manages to entertain the viewers at its peak as it stays true to the topsy-turvy, comical core of the series.
As Smiling Friends draws near to its Season 3 finale, this new short offers a tantalizing sip of its ludicrous world. In just a minute, it tells a story that is peculiar and enjoyable, exactly like how the series is shaped.
