SNL’s Colin Jost takes on a new role as dentist-turned-drug lord Larry Lavin in Peacock’s untitled series - here’s everything we know

The very talented SNL star Colin Jost is all set to step into a new journey, taking on a role in an upcoming series. Through the years that Colin Jost has been on SNL, he has taken on many roles.

He co-headed the writing part for the show while also being the co-anchor alongside Michael Che. The upcoming drama in which Jost will be present is in development, where Jost will take on a significant role.

In the upcoming Peacock series, Colin Jost will take on the role of Larry Lavin. Larry‘s life is complicated, as he has two different roles, one in the morning and another at night. In the morning, Larry Lavin is a respected Ivy League dentist with a healthy relationship with his family.

However, in the night, Larry’s role changes, and he becomes the cocaine kingpin of the East Coast. The series takes its inspiration from the Audacy podcast Season 1, Wolves Among Us.

The storyline of this series will be rooted in bringing forth the element of drama. However, it can be expected that the series will also contain humorous elements to raise further intrigue.

Colin Jost has years of experience in the field of hosting a show, but this series will be able to bring out his acting prowess. Some of Colin Jost’s other notable projects are How to Be Single, Staten Island Summer, for which he was also the writer, Will & Harper, etc.

During many of the SNL episodes, viewers were able to see Jost’s acting prowess. Hence, it can be expected that he will also be doing a commendable job in this series as well. Besides Jost, this series also has Alex Barnow as the showrunner and executive producer, along with Jost and Jeff Grosvenor.

Some of Alex Barnow’s other notable projects are Power: Origins, The Goldbergs, etc. After starting his career as the writer of Family Guy Season 3, he has come a long way in the world of entertainment and has also created a permanent place in the hearts of the viewers.

Many viewers might be wondering whether this series is based on a true story. The series is based on the story of the suburban dentist and his actions, which led him to build a drug empire without raising any suspicion. He was able to maintain this facade of a dentist while he ran the drug empire.

The element of realism in the series undeniably adds to the overall intrigue. Lavin Matt Davis, along with Steve Seidel, is also the co-executive producer for this upcoming series of Colin Jost.

This upcoming series, where Jost will be taking on the role of Larry Lavin, does not have a title yet. Jost arrived at SNL in the year 2005. This was during the Season 31 of the show, and quickly gained recognition amongst the viewers. He also wrote the 2018 Golden Globes. Besides writing for the Golden Globes, Jost was also the host for the 2018 Emmys.

He also hosted Amazon Prime Video’s Pop Culture Jeopardy! in 2024. With an array of projects under Jost's belt, his presence in the series creates an anticipation for his contribution in the upcoming series. He also worked with Scarlett Johansson in Fly Me to the Moon. In this movie, Jost took on the role of Sneator Cook. Despite having a short screen time in the movie, Jost's presence left a lasting impact on the viewers.
