The episode begins with a political comedy sketch. Colin Jost appears as Secretary of War Pete Hegseth as he gives some updates, wearing a mini liquor bottle as a belt. Jost's Hegseth is greeted with loud cheers, and he rudely asks them to stop and calls them 'dumb bunchers'. It turns out he is addressing the sailors of USS Lincoln. Jost's Hegseth then gives some bizarre updates which might make you go ROFL.

"As we get into the Christmas spirit, we are gonna execute a man in a wheelchair on live TV. Public executions are back. Kinda like Scrubs. And if the guy survives, he's gonna fight Jake Paul."

Jost's Hegseth then introduces the new logo for the department, as one of the sailors questions it.

"Is it the Nazi Eagle?"

Next up is James Austin Johnson, who appears as RFK Jr. and says in a shaky voice:

"I think America is healthier than ever."

Johnson's impression of RFK Jr. is sure to leave the viewers laughing. However, Jost's Hegseth cuts him off as he again starts addressing the sailors who have apparently been on USS Lincoln for 300 days. He goes on to sing Linkin Park's song.

Kam Patterson appears as a stand-up comedian who is performing at Magoobys. Kam looks at the cops and leaves the set.

The strange father-daughter song

Tommy Brennan, James Austin Johnson, and Andrew Dismukes portray a country western band playing at a wedding during the couple's first dance. It turns out they are paying emotional tribute to the father of the bride.

However, it turns out to be funny as they imply that the man was raising a girl who is now a young woman, which means her childhood room is now his. Her luggage is packed up, and he has a lot of creative ideas in his mind, including video games, a popcorn machine, a huge recliner, and pinball.

Sneakers

SNL Season 52 episode 3 takes the viewers back to 1920 in Lowell, Massachusetts. Filmore Footwear has invented a new shoe design. The shoes are apparently lighter and more flexible. Gillis notes that they are good for running and walking. He further notes they are good for sneaking as well, and calls them sneakers.

Next up is Shane Gillis as a son who is irritated after the Grinch troubles his dad (Mikey Day), asking what he would like for breakfast. However, the father refuses the breakfast multiple times. After they get rid of the Grinch, the father and son duo have an uncomfortable yet funny conversation.

Rosalía performs Reliquia

Rosalía performs Reliquia, and it can be considered one of the best performances of SNL Season 52 Episode 3. The performance has a ballet influence and even features ballet shoes.

Weekend Update

A SNL episode without the Weekend Update is incomplete. This week, they discuss President Trump losing the Nobel Peace Prize and the War Department's new logo. Austin Johnson plays Kevin O'Leary and discusses the big data centres.

Also, the viewers get some good advice from a mom whose babysitter has dumped her. Ashley Padilla plays the mother, and her daughter Coco is portrayed by Grace Reiter. The mother-daughter duo is hilarious to watch. Coco recounts getting lost on a farm, and she just wants to know about her father.

SNL Season 52 Episode 3 recap: The Hospice drama

According to Entertainment Weekly, Grace Reiter plays an elderly woman at a hospice centre. Sarah Sherman plays the nurse who tells the elderly woman that her son, Fred (Shane Gillis), will be staying back this weekend in case she dies. Fred asks if this could be postponed to Monday, as he has tickets for a Jelly Roll event at Sphere. Jelly Roll's spirit appears to Fred and asks him to come to the show. Ben Marshall plays Jelly Roll. Jesus also gives him his approval.
