For Halloween 2026, SNL UK aired a pre-taped trailer sketch parody of the 1999 psychological horror film, The Blair Witch Project, called The Cher Witch Project. It was part of Season 2's episode 6, which featured Cynthia Erivo as the host and Blossoms as the musical guest.

The SNL UK parody features a premise similar to that of the 1999 film, but instead of being haunted by an unknown entity, the film students will be haunted by different versions of Cher singing her songs. The parody looks like a funny reinforcement of the pop culture meme that celebrates the singer and actress by saying that only Cher and cockroaches will survive the end of times.

The Blair Witch Project follows three film students who vanish into the Maryland woods when they go to shoot a documentary there about a terrifying local legend. By the end, the only thing recovered is their camera footage. SNL UK made a parody of the film, and its trailer has been released as well.

The trailer says that in 1994, three filmmakers went into the woods but they vanished. Three days later, the footage they had recorded was found. Thus, SNL UK's parody has a premise similar to that of the 1999 film. However, the students aren't haunted by the mythical Blair Witch, they are haunted by Cher singing her songs in the forest. The parody doesn't actually feature Cher. Different cast members impersonate Cher from her various performances and sing her songs randomly, which scares the students.

When the three students first begin exploring the woods, they discover CDs hanging from trees, with the names of Cher's songs written on them. That is a direct parody of the stick figures hanging from trees in the 1999 film. The students also discover several Grammys in the forest, a reference to Cher's multiple Grammy wins, which adds more humor to the parody.

In the funniest way possible, the students are all 'scared' by these unnatural findings in the woods and the parody's version of Heather Donahue says:

"There's something out there."

As she looks for who or what is looming in the woods, a woman dressed as Cher pops out of nowhere and begins singing Believe by Cher. The parody version of the fictionalized Heather Donahue then says:

"Scared of Cher in the woods. She's a triple threat."

We then see glammed-up versions of Cher appearing out of nowhere multiple times, serving as comedic moments for viewers but 'scary' moments for the students. Moreover, another extremely funny moment from the parody is when one of the students cries out:

"The eight key range."

Another says:

"She's had hits in every decade."

The students are also surprised by how well she's singing and performing (to them, it's Cher and not different impersonators) despite her having been in the industry for so long. They praise her talent while being scared of her at the same time. At the end, the students conclude that perhaps Cher just wants to sing to them, and they join her in the singing.

But then one of them gets killed by one of the Cher impersonators and the other two try to escape in their car. However, their attempt proves futile when yet another version of Cher, this time played by Cynthia Erivo, appears in the backseat. We hear the students scream as the screen goes black, hinting that their lives are in danger.

Thus, as the parody ends, it is indeed Cher who is the only one to survive.
