Somebody Knows Something: How did Sabrina Aisenberg vanish?

The latest episode of Somebody Knows Something turns to Sabrina Aisenberg, the five-month-old baby girl who disappeared from her crib. Tragedy struck the Aisenberg house three days before Thanksgiving, on November 24, 1997, when Marlene found an empty crib. The couple claimed that they tucked their children-William, 8, Monica, 4, and 5-month-old Sabrina into bed on that fateful night.

However, things took a turn when Marlene noticed the garage door and the door from the house to the garage unlocked in the morning, which spelled disaster. Moments later, Marlene discovered that Sabrina Aisenberg had vanished from her crib, along with her handmade blue-and-yellow blanket with imprinted animal images and yellow piping. The couple reported their child missing at 6:42 a.m, following which the authorities swarmed their neighbourhood within minutes, in search of the child.

Somebody Knows Something: The case remains unsolved as the investigation turned internal

As Somebody Knows Something revealed, the authorities found evidence suggesting that Sabrina Aisenberg was taken from her home, including a boot print near her crib, an unidentified blonde hair in her crib, and seven unidentified fingerprints. Additionally, while there were no signs of forced entry, the open garage door suggested an intruder had slipped in. Despite these important clues, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office zeroed in on the parents, believing that they had killed or sold the baby.

Somebody Knows Something suggests that the Sabrina Aisenberg case remains unsolved because the investigation turned internal after many people noticed strange behaviour from the couple during a press conference, where they pleaded for their daughter's safe return. Additionally, a pediatrician noticed missing hair from the left side of Sabrina's head and a bruised left eye in her pictures, which added further suspicion that the Aisenbergs have likely harmed their daughter.

16 days after Sabrina Aisenberg's disappearance, the authorities got permission to wiretap their Florida house and secretly record their conversations, which resulted in 55 audio recordings, gathering 2600 conversations over 79 days. Prosecutors claimed many conversations touched on Sabrina's disappearance, including one where Steve Aisenberg allegedly confessed to killing his own daughter while high. Despite such bold claims, a federal judge ruled that many tapes were inaudible and others were taken out of context. In February 2001, all charges against the couple were dropped by the prosecution.

Despite extensive searches, countless leads and years of investigation, the disappearance of Sabrina Aisenberg remains shrouded in unanswered questions. The latest episode of Somebody Knows Something proves that even exhaustive investigations can leave crucial pieces of the puzzle missing.
