1) Sugisaki Hana as Tsuchida Ayana

Ayana is the main character in the Japanese drama Sounds of Winter. She is a novelist and a part-time worker in a clothing store. She is the girlfriend of Yukio and a close friend of Wachi and En-chan. Though Ayana easily accepts Yukio as her boyfriend in the first episode, she is still confused about their relationship and avoids falling in love.
At one point, she also admits that she only gets into relationships with people she believes she won’t fall in love with. This is likely to protect her feelings. However, she does believe that Yukio is a very nice person.
2) Narita Ryo as Saiki Yukio

Yukio is the boyfriend of Ayana and works as a hairdresser in Sounds of Winter. While he thought she was dangerous and weird at first, after Ayana suddenly decided to come to his home just after meeting him, he started liking her for being honest and upfront about her feelings.
Yukio even gives her earrings on Christmas and asks her to move in, showing that he is serious about her and wants their relationship to grow stronger.
3) Okayama Amane as Hayase Kotaro

Kotaro is a former admirer of Ayana who liked her and even wanted to express his feelings at one point. Even without him expressing it, Ayana knows about it. Kotaro is a genuine person at heart who wants the best for Ayana.
At the same time, he later makes it clear to her that she isn’t different from others, as he himself has given her that unique attention. This shows that he is someone who values honesty over pretending and tries to do what’s right, even when it’s difficult.
4) Mizusawa Rintaro as Wachi

Wachi is a close friend of Ayana who works in a coffee shop. At the same time, Wachi is envious of Ayana after seeing her relationship with Yukio. According to Wachi, Ayana likes Yukio because he likes her more, and not the other way around. Though the two were on good terms, Wachi’s confrontation makes Ayana upset, which creates tension between them.
While he is jealous, from his actions, it’s clear that he speaks his mind and talks about his honest feelings, which even pushes Ayana to think about her relationship with Yukio.
5) Nouchi Maru as En-chan

En-chan is Ayana’s university friend who regularly hangs out with her. She is loyal to her and doesn’t hesitate to express her honest feelings. At the same time, Ayana’s novel character, Kozue, is based on En-chan’s life, who finds it easy to fall in love. However, she doesn’t like getting too close physically, which affects her relationship.
6) Kawai Aoba as Tada Minami

Tada Minami is the editor for Ayana’s novel who helps her figure out her novel’s character, Kozue. Tada is patient and carefully listens to Ayana. At the same time, she asks questions about Kozue that help Ayana find answers on how to progress with her novel, showing her supportive nature. She genuinely wants Ayana to be successful in writing her novel.
