Spider-Noir is running successfully on Prime Video with all the eight episodes of its first season and viewers in America got an early release on MGM+ on May 25. Spider-Noir falls under the TV-14 rating and the Prime Video series is unsuitable for young kids because it delivers hard-boiled action and assault scenes.

The characters get shot, kicked, punched, and injured during the action sequences. However, the story focuses more on noir-style suspense rather than extreme gore, and blood is portrayed as an occasionally visible element.

Showrunners Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot explained the process of filming the series which was meant for release in two different formats. The first one is a stylized black-and-white edition, and the second is a highly saturated color version.

While the original Spider-Man is portrayed as a lighthearted and family-friendly hero the 2026 version has revealed a darker side. Ben Reilly appears as an alcoholic, dealing with personal tragedy.

Alchohol and substance abuse scenes are unsuitable for children under 14 because their brains are highly impressionable, and exposure to onscreen drinking. It can lead to early alcohol usage.

Some kids also link alcohol with being cool, mature, or successful because they lack critical thinking to spot media manipulation. Therefore, it is recommended for the parents to skip alcohol scenes while watching with their kids.

Spider-Noir: Mild use of s*x and nudity

Spider-Noir leaned into the gritty genre of 1930s Pulp Fiction. Prime Video's noir version has organized crime, femme fatales, and systemic corruption. The story leans towards mild use of explicit or graphic s*xual content - not to mention traditional noir-style romance with moments of implied intimacy.

Parents can skip the scenes where Felicia Hardy appears. Li Jun Li has played the role of Felicia and in one of the scenes, she steps inside Peter Parker's room with her soaked fur-lined coat, walking with the sound of her heels like a countdown on the hardwood.

She whispers and tells Parkar to hold her following which the latter pulls her close with his hand reaching past her shoulder to grab the lamp cord and turns off the light. The camera drifts away from the couple focusing on the desk to show Peter's fedora beside Felicia's wet gloves - such scenes of physical intimacy is not deemed suitable for kids.

A fan's perspective: TV-14 rating changed to TV-MA

One Reddit user, Nemesis_171, posted that,

"Wasn’t it marketed as tv-14? I doubt a change occurred this late, maybe it was always a hard tv-14 and then it ended up being pushed just a bit too far and stepped into tv-ma territory? I doubt......this is going to be as violent as the Netflix shows even if tv-ma."

According to the fan theories, the show was originally promoted as TV-14, but the actual content pushed past the rating into TV-MA. This updated rating means that the series was specifically designed for adults and might be unsuitable for children under 17 years of age.
