Spider-Noir is heading to its Prime Video debut and has already onboarded Nicholas Cage in the lead role. The show will not be a typical Spider-Man story, but Ben Reilly, a darker and more complicated figure from Spider-Man lore.

Spider-Noir remains close to the hardcore detective roots but offers the story with a mix of pulp crime drama and superhero mythology.

Spider-Noir is expected to land on Prime Video in spring 2026. In the United States, it will first air on MGM+. The show does something unique with its visual presentation. It will be presented in monochrome, black-and-white dialing back matches its old-school detective style.

Another version will be to watch it in color. Depending on these two formats, a batch of first-look images was released. This choice shows that the creators want to stay true to the noir roots while also delivering a charged pulp-fiction-like energy.

Viewers may expect to see Cage's Spider-Man navigate classic noir film settings like dark city settings, shadowy roads, and morally grey characters. Spider-noir keeps those ideas but presents them in a modern form.

Spider-Noir is set during the period of the Great Depression, when the city of New York was marked by hardships. Naturally, during these times, a teenage superhero won't connect well.

The version of Spider-Man is older and tired. He works as a private detective and naviagted criminal underworld and the world inside tall skyscrapers. The black-and-white look, along with the focus on crime and mystery, gives the show a serious and moody feeling.

Who brings Spider-Noir to life?

Nicolas Cage plays Ben Reilly, the protagonist of the show. Cage previously voiced Spider-Man Noir in the animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. For this latest rendition, Cage has described his role as having a mix of humor and old-school detective energy.

The mystery surrounding and inside the town slowly grows; Cage's character has to recollect his former days as a superhero who protected the city. Unlike already present superhero adaptations of the classic Marvel character, the show deep dives into a man burdened with knowledge.

The supporting cast includes Brendan Gleeson as crime boss Silvermane. Jack Huston plays Flint Marko, a character known in the comics as Sandman, though it is not yet confirmed if he will have powers in the series.

Li Jun Li appears as Cat Hardy, also known as Black Cat. Lamorne Morris plays Daily Bugle reporter Robbie Robertson, and Karen Rodriguez appears as Reilly’s secretary, Janet Smart.

The production location is set in Los Angeles. The creative team and executive team consist of the following names:

  • Phil Lord
  • Christopher Miller
  • Amy Pascal
  • Oren Uziel
  • Steve Lightfoot
  • Harry Bradbeer
  • Aditya Sood
