Spooky in Love episode 4 recap: Yeo-ri talks about her past and teams up with Gang-uk to help a ghost

Episode 4 of Spooky in Love begins with Yeo-ri trying to calm both Gang-uk and the spirit of a young boy. Instead of running away, she patiently speaks to the ghost and follows where he wants to go. The child leads them into the woods, where they discover an overturned car from a terrible accident.
As they look inside the vehicle, they find that the boy is dead while his father is still alive despite injuries. To stop the father from losing hope, Yeo-ri tells him that his son is safe. They call the paramedics for help, and the father is taken for his treatment.
The boy's ghost then urges Yeo-ri to check the car once again. Yeo-ri is horrified to find the boy’s younger sister still trapped inside. The rescuers quickly pull her out and rush her to the hospital. A flashback then reveals that during the crash, the little boy protected his sister, sacrificing himself to keep her safe.
Once the family is out of danger, the boy's spirit finds peace and says goodbye to Gang-uk and Yeo-ri. While this is normal for Yeo-ri, Gang-uk was deeply affected by this and asks Yeo-ri how she ended up being connected to spirits.
She finally tells the painful truth about her abilities. Years ago, Yeo-ri nearly died after falling from a yacht during high school. Although she survived, her close friend Ji-hwan lost his life in the accident. After that tragedy, she began seeing his spirit and later started seeing ghosts everywhere.
Episode 4 of Spooky in Love continues, and Yeo-ri also explains to Gang-uk that anyone she touches temporarily gains the ability to see spirits. Because of this, rumors spread, and she was isolated in college and lived a lonely life.
Feeling guilty for passing this burden to Gang-uk, she apologizes and says he will continue seeing ghosts for about a month. Although she decides they should stay apart until then, Gang-uk gently holds her hand, showing that he understands the lonely life she has endured for so many years.
Spooky in Love episode 4 recap: Gang-uk and Yeo-ri's bond deepens as he learns to live with ghosts

After returning home in episode 4 of Spooky in Love, Yeo-ri tells the ghosts to leave her alone for some time. On the other side, Gang-uk is terrified and restless. Even at work, he feels ghosts are everywhere and loses focus.
Days pass, and Gang-uk is just learning to live with ghosts. Meanwhile, Yeo-ri gives Ji-soo a gift card to buy soft toys for her son, showing kindness towards her employee. Elsewhere, Gye-hee discovers that Yeo-ri has recently been spending time with Prosecutor Ma Gang-uk.
Trying to distract himself, Gang-uk even invites Pil-dong over for a movie in episode 4 of Spooky in Love, but nothing eases his fear. He finally calls Yeo-ri, but she ignores his calls. Since he couldn't handle the scariest ghost, Gang-uk rushes to Yeo-ri's house.
Yeo-ri refuses to open the door at first, but Gang-uk pleads until she finally lets him inside. He then apologizes to her for reliving the pain every day, and his words touch Yeo-ri. She teaches him the tricks she has developed to survive.
She advises him to ignore the ghosts and put salt near his door, as they dislike it. Yeo-ri also tells Gang-uk to eat garlic because ghosts cannot stand it either. The two stayed connected for about two weeks on calls as Yeo-ri had to teach him everything.
Gang-uk follows all instructions from Yeo-ri in Spooky in Love episode 4 and even eats garlic at work. An awkward situation arises when the prosecutor general sits beside him and smells the garlic. The situation becomes even more hilarious when Gang-uk spits the garlic on him when a ghost appears.
On the final evening before the ghostly visions are expected to disappear, he thanks Yeo-ri during a video call for helping him survive the past month. Hoping their connection can continue, he asks to keep talking through video calls, but Yeo-ri gently refuses, believing it is safer if they return to being strangers before ending the conversation.
Spooky in Love Episode 4 ending: Seung-jae targets Yeo-ri and Gang-uk risks everything to save her

The story in episode 4 of Spooky in Love continues, and Yeo-ri keeps thinking about Gang-uk. The next day, while exercising, she accidentally mentions spirits during a phone call because she mistakes Ha-ri for Gang-uk, leaving Ha-ri completely puzzled.
Around the same time, Ha-ri meets Min-hwan, who openly admits that he likes Yeo-ri, making Ha-ri jealous. Driven by those feelings, Ha-ri visits Seung-jae in prison and reveals that Yeo-ri helped Gang-uk uncover the body hidden inside the water tank.
She asks him to remove Yeo-ri because she's her only rival. Soon, Gang-uk learns that Seung-jae is out on bail following the prosecutor general's order. Furious, Gang-uk confronts Sang-ho and Seung-jae and says that he will expose Minister Park’s hidden slush fund.
In return, Seung-jae threatens to ruin Yeo-ri. Gang-uk is alarmed by his threat and tries to call Yeo-ri, but she ignores all his calls. By the time he reaches her, she has already been taken away by Seung-jae's men.
Later, Madam Paeng visits Gang-uk and, after hearing everything that happened since the Jeju Island incident, insists he stay home that night. She even locks him inside his room, hoping to keep him safe.
While taking a shower, Gang-uk sees a ghost who tells him about Yeo-ri's location. It's revealed that Seung-jae is forcing Yeo-ri to open up about her ability to see ghosts. When she refuses, he threatens to frame her for drug abuse and orders one of his men to inject her.
Gang-uk arrives just in time to stop them and rescues her, but as they try to escape, Seung-jae deliberately drives his car into Gang-uk. Police officers and paramedics quickly reach the scene and rush Gang-uk to the hospital. Doctors desperately try to save his life while Yeo-ri blames herself for what happened.
By the end of episode 4 of Spooky in Love, Pil-dong and Hyung-min are devastated as Gang-uk’s heartbeat suddenly flatlines. Overwhelmed with grief, Yeo-ri leaves the hospital, only to unexpectedly see Gang-uk’s spirit outside.
