The Griffin Incident episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4 was released yesterday exclusively on Paramount+. The episode shows a peak brutality scene when Spock is trapped inside an abandoned and haunted ship named the Griffin. The ship disappeared nine years ago with about 300 passengers on board.
Spock experiences a sharp emotional blow when T'Pring suddenly appears inside the ship. He starts thinking about whether T'Pring was already there in the Griffin or the ship is playing tricks on him. Soon after, T'Pring attempts to de-Vulcanize Spock.
Episode 2 also shows another disturbing scene involving La’an Noonien Singh. La'an loses control of her carefully restrained augment DNA. After that, she unleashes her aggression to kill James T. Kirk. Producers have deliberately staged the scene for the audience to highlight the terrifying consequences of suppressed genetic power.

What happened to Spock in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4?
In the recently released episode, viewers witnessed Spock suffer the worst horror inside the Griffin. An apparition of Spock's estranged fiancée, T'Pring, appears suddenly inside the ship and ties him down to a sickbay bed. After that, she takes a pair of scissors and points to his ears to de-Vulcanize him.
T'Pring was last seen in Charades when her engagement with Spock turned into estrangement. When T'Pring realizes that she is doing wrong to Spock, she admits she made a mistake forcing Spock into becoming more Vulcan.
T'Pring used to take part in the kahs-wan while she was young. She was hurt when she carried out hiking activities. In addition, when dangerous animals were close to her, she suffered panic attacks. She regained control by meditating and repeating her favorite couplet from the poet Ka'nina.
When the episode is halfway through, the Griffin trio start hallucinating about the arrival of Captain Pike and Una to rescue them. The violence escalates further when Una slices open her own stomach to drain her Illyrian blood. She blames Starfleet’s refusal to promote her. Pike’s cooking hobby is twisted into horror when the false Pike chops off his own fingers one by one on a cutting board.
When Spock is finally saved by advanced 23rd‑century medicine, his ears still remain mutilated, but the damage proves that not everything was an illusion. The Griffin’s presence was actively harming them or driving them to harm themselves.
Shocking violence with La’an Noonien-Singh
In Star Trek, La’an Noonien is a female Human Starfleet officer who lives in the 23rd century. She is the only survivor of a Gorn attack that wiped out her entire family. After that incident, she carried the legacy of being a descendant of the notorious Khan Noonien-Singh.
In episode 2 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4, La'an's recessive augment DNA appears to be active during her time on the Griffin. This change increases her rage and strength, and as a result, it makes her more distant from others.
However, it helps her survive the ship's horrors, but then, also leads to Kirk being stabbed. Her transformation suggests that her genetic side is becoming dominant, shaping her into someone more dangerous and unpredictable.
