Star Trek fans first saw the Klingons twenty years earlier in the episode, 'Errand of Mercy' of Star Trek: The Original Series. If you are a true fan of the Star Trek universe, you should know that the Romulans had shown up before the Klingons. However, the Klingons became famous as the main enemies of the Federation. This was partly because they appeared in six more episodes of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy.

Lacy Baugher, the author of Dan of Greek, said that Klingons are one of the most iconic species in Star Trek. According to the author, over the course of a sixty-year run, Klingons have evolved from deadly enemies to fierce allies and everything in between.

In addition, throughout every era of Star Trek, the Klingons remained the most significant part. Writers use them as allies, enemies, or some other species. Episode 4 of this series proved that the Klingons are the most versatile species due to their capability of surviving. You can see a scene where the proud civilization is struggling to survive.

A versatile Jay-Den Kragg

Karim Diané played Jay-Den Kragg in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy. Kragg is the male Klingon Starfleet captain in the 32nd century from House of Kraag. Moreover, he is the only son of L'vanna.

According to the plot of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, the Burn almost wiped out the Klingons. Den's family had to flee and live as refugees. In the camps, his parents sang to him and his brother, Thar. Karim Diané, who plays Jay-Den Kragg, said,

“I’m definitely not a traditional man. I’m not this macho guy who goes to sports games or plays football on the weekend. I am the opposite of that. I like to think that I’m…soft. Gentle in my tone and in the way I carry myself. I think maybe that’s what I just naturally exude. And I’d like to imagine that that’s what brought me to this role. But full credit to Noga and Alex [Kurtzman], who wrote this character this way and left it up to me to find it. To find him. The challenge for me was finding his voice and getting comfortable in the way he looks. But the softness kind of comes naturally to me.”
