Nurse Chapel comes to his rescue after she decides that the slipstream wormhole’s neutrinos could become a chance to save M’Benga. To get the neutrinos to M’Benga, Christine decides to freeze M’Benga so that it can give her the time to save him. Putting M’Benga into cryo-sleep also brings forth a risky situation for Chapel.

On the other hand, the neutrinos, besides being a source to save M’Benga, could also be used for the Enterprise. To make sure M’Benga gets the neutrino, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4 Episode 6 brings forth yet another shocking turn when Lieutenant Spock decides to get it by space walking.

However, it comes with a life-threatening challenge, as Spock absorbs a huge amount of radiation while doing it, which causes La’an Noonien-Singh to come to his rescue. La’an Noonien-Singh rescues Spock. After mind-melding with La’an, Spock is able to deliver the information that Scotty needs for the process, as the chip that he used ended up getting damaged.

A distinct emotional layer in this episode of the series comes from the dynamic between M’Benga and Chapel. This episode also reveals how M’Benga was eager to get Boyce to get a transfer to the Enterprise. Chapel and M’Benga’s dynamic is depicted in a nuanced manner when it is revealed that she also decided to leave the Enterprise if M’Benga goes.

Instead of saving herself, she also decided to stay back for M’Benga, refusing to let him die even though M’Benga’s situation was grim. In this episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4, the manner in which the Enterprise caught up in the slipstream and the steady rise in the ruptures, which further damaged the ship, is depicted and raises the tension.

The inertial dampeners become the initial hindrance in the path; however, Scotty is able to get it back online. With the lack of fuel, the Enterprise also becomes vulnerable to picking up high speed, which might lead to its disintegration. Scotty uses the neutrinos to get more fuel, which leads to their path to safety.

With the countdown, which can be seen throughout Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4 Episode 6, almost reaching its end, Ortegas manages to get the Enterprise to safety. Besides the steady rise in the threat in this episode, which is delivered in a nuanced manner, the emotional aspect also becomes an intriguing factor. At the very end of this episode, when Chapel is recovering, Pike arrives to speak to her.

She asks Pike to give her a permanent duty at the station in an official manner. Pike then informs Chapel that Joseph is considering leaving; hence, he thought that she would also be following him.

However, Chapel tells him how she is reminded of the good that is present there through M’Benga. M’Benga is finally able to wake up and finishes the joke that he was telling Chapel, ending the episode in a heartwarming manner.
