Good news for Stephen Fry's spy drama, The Interrogator, as Fox Network and Lionsgate gave the series a straight-to-series order. The 68-year-old actor will play the role of former MI6 agent Conrad Henry on the Fox Network series. Fry wrote the initial script of the series, which was later revised by Empire's Matt Pyken and, again, revised by Fire Country's Bill Harper. Deadline reported that Harper's contribution secured the greenlight.

What do we know about Stephen Fry's latest series, The Interrogator?

Deadline reported on Monday that Fox Network and Lionsgate TV greenlit the series for a full series order. Consisting of 12 episodes, the Deadline report read:

"Fox has kicked off its equivalent of pilot season with a straight-to-series order to The Interrogator, a spy drama series written, executive produced by and starring British actor-comedian Stephen Fry. The project, a co-production between Lionsgate Television and Fox Entertainment Studios, is Fox’s second new scripted series order for the 2026-27 season, joining the long-gestating Baywatch reboot which was grenelighted to series in September. It may not be the last. I hear Fox brass had narrowed the pool of drama contenders to three frontrunners — The Interrogator, Katie Greaves (working title) by Sharr White and Blood Ties by Tom Szentgyorgyi — with one of the other two likely to go to series."

The Deadline report also revealed the development process of the spy series, revealing the main reason behind the show's greenlight:

"The Interrogator pilot script was written by Fry, with revisions from Matt Pyken (Empire) as well as Bill Harper (Fire Country) whose contribution was considered key in securing the greenlight."

This spy drama would be Fry's return to Fox after Bones, which aired its final season in 2017. The Deadline report, alluding to this, stated this:

"This marks Fry’s return to Fox where he had a recurring role on Bones. He most recently appeared on the Netflix comedy series Too Much and as a contestant on BBC’s The Celebrity Traitors and will next be seen reprising his role as King James III on Prime Video’s Red, White & Royal Wedding and in Frank and Percy, a film adaptation of the play of the same name."

Very little is known about the 12-episode series, as cameras have not yet started rolling. We know that Fry himself wrote one of the versions of the script for the series revolving around a former MI6 agent and his team. It is unknown if the series will follow a villain of the week or a series-overarching villain. We may learn more about the series in the coming months, as it begins filming. The official logline of the series reads:

"The drama centers on former MI6 agent Conrad Henry (Fry) and his elite team. When conventional methods have failed, Henry’s quirky charm, superior intellect and mind-bending behavioral maneuvers make him the only man able to lockpick the minds of the world’s most dangerous criminals."

While we wait for this spy thriller, you can catch Stephen Fry in Red, White & Royal Wedding, which will be released on Prime Video.
