British online portal, LADbible recently did something fun about surviving situations from classic horror properties. Martin Downes, who is a former Sergeant in the SAS (Special Air Service), sat down for an interview with the British portal and gave tips on how to survive classic horror scenarios.

The discussion involved four horror properties: Yaga, Possession, IT: Welcome to Derry, and the most recent horror release: Crystal Lake. One of the series talked about is the Canadian horror and investigative show, Yaga. While discussing how to survive a classic horror situation, Downes said:

"Never go searching for someone on your own, stick to the paths, mark your route, and if a mysterious voice calls to you from the darkness, get the h**l out of there!"

From IT to Crystal Lake: Here's what you should do to survive classic horror situations

Ex-SAS Sergeant Martin Downes also gave tips on how to survive other horror properties like Possession, IT: Welcome to Derry, and the Linda Cardellini-led prequel series, Crystal Lake.

Possession

Claudia, a biracial British lawyer, is sent to Kingston, Jamaica to discredit a Jamaican national, Cudjoe East, who inherits a massive £50 million estate. Cudjoe is chosen by the wealthy aristocrat over the biological son, Oliver Connaught. The trailers have shown scenes of Claudia opening a buried chest.

Martin Downes pointed to this scene and gave the following humorous advice:

"If it's buried, leave it buriedever open a mystery chest hidden under floorboards, as once whatever's inside is out, there's no drill and no second chance"

A prequel to Andy Muschietti's IT movies, Welcome to Derry Season 1 is set in the 1960s, and follows young Will Hanlon's (Mike Hanlon's father) attempts to solve the mysterious disappearances of children. Their investigation uncovers a shocking truth about Derry: Pennywise the Dancing Clown.

The Ex-SAS Sergeant had this sensible advice for surviving an encounter with Pennywise:

"An entity that becomes whatever you fear most? I've never fought one, but fear is how it feeds. So I'd control mine. Stay in a group, stay calm, then strike as one."

Crystal Lake

The prequel to the Friday the 13th franchise, is more about Pamela Voorhees's grief about losing Jason. The trailers have shown Pamela murdering campers in a brutal fashion for a mysterious reason. The official logline alludes to this:

“single mother Pam Voorhees (Linda Cardellini) who has been unable to shake her grief after her young, sickly son Jason (Callum Vinson) tragically drowned in the town lake almost a year before. When two strangers arrive at Pam’s door digging into her past, a disturbing chain of events is set into motion, leaving the townspeople of Crystal Lake wondering: Just who is Pam Voorhees?”

As a secluded camp could feel hopeless to escape, this is the advice Downes had for the trapped campers:

"If you are trapped at camp, don't head for the lake. Cold water saps your strength in minutes and splashing around is not stealth. Stay on land, stay quiet and stay in sight of each other."
