Something is haunting Hawkins' woods (again) in the first trailer for Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 Season 2. Netflix has unveiled the first official trailer for the sophomore season of its animated science fiction series, a spin-off of the Duffer Brothers' beloved series Stranger Things.

The Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 Season 2 trailer offers the first glimpse at the returning Hawkins Investigators Club gang, namely Will, Mike, Lucas, Dustin, Max, Nikki and El, who will face a new ghostly terror in the upcoming entry.

While the gang is accustomed to fighting brutal threats from the Upside Down, both in the flagship series and Season 1, the new threat is paranormal and surfacing across their town in Indiana.

More on this in our story.

The first official trailer for Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 Season 2, scheduled to arrive on Netflix on September 17, sees the gang resuming their regular activities & preparing for the upcoming Valentine's Day, when strange blue flowers pop all across Hawkins, in winter. This sets the stage for a spooky adventure, as Dustin announces in the trailer:

“We’re the first line of defense against paranormal threats to our town.''

In an interview with Netflix Tudum, showrunner Eric Robles teased that while the blue shiny flowers look pretty from the outside, they have a supernatural secret, likely connected to the Upside Down, suggesting that Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 Season 2 is entering horror territory. While several characters refuse to believe that a ghost is haunting their town, all evidence points to a paranormal activity.

Additional scenes from the Season 2 trailer feature the gang performing a spooky ritual with an Ouija board and candles and Mike destroying the blue flowers before they transform into a strange entity, suggesting that the upcoming season will explore a never-before-seen threat in Hawkins.

The trailer ends on a chilling montage as the gang prepares to confront a terrifying group of paranormal entities that appear immune to El’s powers. In addition to a nostalgic ride to familiar Stranger Things locations like Hawkins Middle School and the Palace Arcade, Robles teased that the upcoming season will explore fresh locations, including a mine in Hawkins.

Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 Season 2 will mark the return of the main voice cast, namely Brooklyn Davey Norstedt as Eleven, Luca Diaz as Mike, Elisha “EJ” Williams as Lucas, Benjamin Plessala as Will, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport as Max, Braxton Quinney as Dustin and Odessa A’zion as Nikki Baxter.

Tales From ’85 Season 2 will premiere on Netflix on September 17.
