Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 was confirmed by Paramount in October 2025. While the actual plot of Season 2 hasn't been revealed yet, the actor behind a new important character has been revealed. The last season ended with Dexter finding out the identity of a former serial killer, the New York Ripper. The former serial killer will finally appear in Dexter: Resurrection Season 2.

As Deadline reported, Brian Cox, who is known for his performance in Succession, has been cast to play the New York Ripper in Dexter: Resurrection Season 2.

Succession's Brian Cox joins Dexter: Resurrection Season 2

In the finale of Dexter: Resurrection Season 1, we saw Dexter kill Leon Prater to avenge Angel Batista's death. Dexter cleaned up the crime scene, framed Prater for the murders, and dumped his body from a boat. Dexter also stole files from Prater's vault, which contained a list of other serial killers, which set them up as his targets for Dexter: Resurrection Season 2. One of the serial killers in Prater's list was the New York Ripper, aka Don Framt.

Brian Cox, who is known for playing Logan Roy in Succession, has been cast to play the New York Ripper in Dexter: Resurrection Season 2. Cox's other credits include Nuremberg, Frasier, and Deadwood, among others. All we know about Cox's character, the New York Ripper, is that he used to be a serial killer who doesn't kill anymore, but now he engages in a new kind of heinous activity. He taunts the victims who survived his attempts at killing them. Thus, we know that he is one of the serial killers Dexter will be targeting in Season 2.

Nothing much about the upcoming season has been made public yet. Filming is going to begin in April 2026 and wrap up in time for an October 2026 premiere. We can expect more cast members to join Season 2, and that information will most likely be revealed in due time.

Cast members returning for Season 2 are yet to be officially confirmed. The ones expected to return are Michael C. Hall as Dexter Morgan, Jack Alcott as Harrison Morgan, James Remar as Harry Morgan, Dominic Fumusa as Melvin Oliva, Kadia Saraf as Claudette Wallace, Emilia Suárez as Elsa Rivera, and Uma Thurman as Charley Brown, among others. Peter Dinklage and David Zayas might appear as Leon Prater and Angel Batista, respectively, in flashbacks.

Dexter: Resurrection is developed and executive produced by Clyde Phillips, who is also the showrunner. The show is based on Dexter by James Manos Jr. and Dexter by Jeff Lindsay. Other executive producers of the show are Marcos Siega, Hilly Hicks, Jr., John Goldwyn, Sara Colleton, Tony Hernandez, Lilly Burns, and Michael C. Hall. The production companies behind the show are Clyde Phillips Productions, Sal Centric, Counterpart Studios, and Paramount Television Studios.

Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 is going to premiere on Paramount+ with Showtime in October 2026. All episodes of Season 1 are streaming on Paramount+ with Showtime.
