John Sugar’s deadly gamble in Sugar Season 2 Episode 4

At the beginning of Sugar Season 2 Episode 4, a flashback scene shows Ray Vega entering St. Anthony’s Hospital and coming across Ji Moon in the elevator. Just as previously shown at the beginning of the series, Ji Moon steals the drugs and puts them in the flask while also taking a handful for himself in his pocket. After taking the drugs, he leaves through the stairwell while Hannah McDaniels watches him.

However, things take a turn when he watches the security guard also walking up the stairs. To evade the security guard, he enters a room in the hospital where he finds a patient urging him to give him a phone. However, right at that moment, Ray Vega enters the room, causing Ji Moon to hide in a cupboard. Through the cupboard, he watches Ray Vega saying a prayer to the patient and then killing the patient.

Ji Moon watches the whole scene unravel in front of him and is completely shocked and scared. He tries his best to conceal his presence, but Ray Vega understands and opens the cupboard, finding Ji Moon sitting inside. Ray clicks a photo of Ji Moon and tells him to run.

Sugar Season 2 Episode 4 continues with John telling Ray Vega the whole situation about the shooting. Though John tries his best to make Ray Vega understand, Vega is not ready to listen to his story. Vega then tells the other officer present in the room to leave and also switches off the recorder.

He asks John about how he was able to identify him so easily, to which John answers. John tells Ray Vega that Ji Moon saw him murder Chuy Jaquez, the patient at the beginning of the episode, which is the reason Vega will have to kill Ji Moon to cover his tracks. He also adds that Vega murdered Chuy because of the Fire Sale. Hearing John’s words, Ray Vega informs him that he has received a call from his guardian angel warning him to stay away from John; however, Ji Moon is not safe, as he will eventually be able to find him.

Sugar Season 2 Episode 4 continues with John returning to his room after his conversation with Vega, only to find that Charlotte Fischer has broken into his room. He rushes to find Charlotte and confronts her about her visit to his room. Charlotte then tells John that it is a misunderstanding, as she was let in by the housekeeper so that she could leave a “flirty little note” for him.

John returns to his room and finds the note. The following day, Vega arrives to speak with Hannah about Ji Moon. Instead of telling the truth, Vega twists the whole situation, indicating that he is there to protect Ji Moon. On the other hand, John meets Danny, who is worried about an upcoming event. He also assures Danny that he will be able to find Ji Moon.

Danny then reveals a shocking truth that he was hiding. He reveals that he knows the guy from the club with Ji. He is Tyler Ko and could be significant in finding Ji’s location. John asks Danny about the reason why he did not reveal the truth before, to which Danny’s frustration regarding the whole situation comes to life. Things take a turn when John realizes that, as Ji Moon is an addict, he will not be able to stay away from it for long.

He understands that Hannah could reveal Ji’s location to the Vega and rushes to reach Hannah’s location. Hannah had already called Ji to make a deal and informed Vega about it. As Val was already following Hannah’s car, she was able to tell John the location of Hannah. At the end of Sugar Season 2 Episode 4, Ji arrives to meet Hannah in the mall, and Hannah tries to make Ji wait just as Vega asked her to do, but he eventually leaves.

Vega had already put a tracker in Ji’s car, which he used to leave. John also realizes where Ji is heading through the photo, which he previously saw in their house. At the very end of Sugar Season 2 Episode 4, John reaches the location where Ji is and finds that Ji’s car has a tracker. He enters the house and finds Ji in a haze. Before he is able to take Ji to safety, he watches the Vega’s cars arrive at their location; hence, they do not have much time.

Soon, three cars arrive at the location. Vega and his men enter the house and find Ji with an injection stuck to his hand. They think that Ji must have ODed. However, Vega asks his men to search the house while John hides. John overdosed Ji so that after Vega’s men leave, he can revive him. Just as John had planned, Vega and his men leave. John successfully revives Ji, saving him from death.
