Sugar Season 2: Release date news, cast details and more about the upcoming chapter in the Apple TV series

If you like clever detective series with a lighter element to it, then good news, Sugar Season 2 is on the way. Apple TV+ has announced a follow-up of the show featuring Colin Farrell. Its debut season, released in April 2024, was popular due to a combination of old-fashioned detective style and a plot set in the modern setting.

Colin Farrell will reappear as John Sugar, a private detective in Los Angeles who unravels secrets that lead to even greater mysteries. Sugar Season 2 will consist of eight new episodes and will premiere in June, which makes it an ideal watch for Summer months. The new season will bring more suspense, twists and fashionable noir drama for the fans.


Sugar Season 2: Release date

Put it in your diary: Sugar Season 2 is set to release on Friday, June 19, 2026, on Apple TV+. The miniseries will roll out new episodes on a weekly basis, on Fridays, until August 7, 2026, thus consisting of eight episodes.

The weekly release ensures that fans can view, debate and come up with theories throughout the entire Summer just as was the case in last season. Apple is following the same format that was used to generate excitement in the past.

In this season, Sugar is taken back to Los Angeles working on a new and complex case. Although Season 1 was about the granddaughter of a missing producer and contained a significant twist, Sugar Season 2 explores more about dark secrets and much bigger conspiracies.You can either be an existing fan or just start to get interested, either way, June 19 is the day to dive into this cool mystery again.


Cast and crew

Sugar Season 2 reintroduces Colin Farrell as the sharp and stylish John Sugar who is always one step ahead of danger but this time he does not work alone. The cast is enriched by a number of new actors who promise to bring new energy and new tensions in the story.

The new cast includes Jin Ha, Raymond Lee, Tony Dalton, Laura Donnelly, and Sasha Calle, with Shea Whigham playing a special guest. They will act in new roles as allies, suspects or concealed dangers in Sugar’s world.

The creative staff also comes back with showrunner Sam Catlin. Colin Farrell remains one of the executive producers, together with Audrey Chon and Simon Kinberg, to preserve the tone of the show to be similar to season 1.

Sugar in this season is investigating the lost elder brother of a young boxer. A mere case at hand gradually develops into a large-scale conspiracy. Meanwhile, Sugar is also trying to find his own lost sister, a subjective issue that continues to propel his actions.
