Ted Lasso Season 4 Episode 9 exposed Richmond's new enemy amidst a tragedy - recap ahead

Ted Lasso Season 4 Episode 9 is titled Mae Rides the Bus and was released on Apple TV on September 30.

The latest episode of the platform's sports comedy series picked up six weeks after the previous episode, in the aftermath of Gemma's injury. It turns out that Gemma was benched, which proved to be disastrous for the Lady Greyhounds. According to Ready Steady Cut, the team's upcoming match with Bristol was important as it could guarantee their promised promotion.

On the other hand, Ted Lasso Season 4 Episode 9 revealed a new enemy for Richmond and Rebecca: Zelda. While Rebecca and Leslie suspected Rupert of buying the Richmond shares, the real villain was revealed to be Zelda. During the Bristol match, Zelda received a call from her friend Hugo, who revealed that he had found the Milk sisters. Since the Milk sisters held a significant number of shares, they could decide who would get the team’s ownership. With Rebecca and Leslie now trusting Zelda, she will likely betray their trust and try to snatch the team's ownership from right under their control.

Here is the complete recap.

Ted Lasso Season 4 Episode 9: A bittersweet victory for Ted and Rebecca

While things were not looking good for the Lady Greyhounds in Ted Lasso Season 4 Episode 9, they received some unexpected motivation from Mae, who gave an inspiring pre-match speech on the team bus. Additionally, Gemma was cleared to play in the match, and Alice was confident about Shannon, who might finally get to play in the current match. Once Boots realized she was not capable of stopping the ball with her bare hands, the match went downhill. This was Gemma's cue to enter the field. While she managed to score for the team through a penalty shot, she suffered yet another minor injury to her knee. The injury was minor, but Alice benched her for the second half after noticing a limp.

The Lady Greyhounds needed a change in strategy in Ted Lasso Season 4 Episode 9. While Boots wore gloves, thanks to Beard's advice, Alice brought in Shannon. Lizzie and Shannon scored goals, which led to a much-needed victory for the team. This is where the episode took a turn. Mae, who jumped in excitement at the team's victory, fell in the stands. Rebecca was upset when she learned about the incident and passed the information to a celebrating Ted. The team's victory turned bittersweet when Ted learned about the incident.

Keeley is pregnant in Ted Lasso Season 4 Episode 9

Another subplot in Ted Lasso Season 4 Episode 9 revolved around Keeley, who took the team's losses personally. During a previous match, Keeley was so disheartened by the Lady Greyhounds' loss that she passed out. While Zelda and Rebecca attributed it to low BP, the doctor suspected that Keeley might be pregnant. The doctor's hunch was proven right after Keeley took a bunch of home tests, which confirmed her pregnancy. While she shared the good news with Rebecca over dinner, the would-be father, Roy, was still unaware of the pregnancy.

Keeley was advised to stay back during the team's Bristol match, and Roy arrived at her house to give her company and keep her BP in check. When Roy realized that Keeley was adamant about watching the game on TV, he used her cosmetics and makeup to recreate the game in his own hilarious way. When the Lady Greyhounds won, Roy was excited. Keeley decided that it was the right time to announce her pregnancy, which doubled Roy's happiness.
