The Assassin Season 2 trailer teases a chaotic mother-son mission after a honeymoon goes horribly wrong

The first trailer for The Assassin Season 2 has been released, and it gives us a look at yet another hurdle the mother-son duo, Julie and Edward, will need to cross together. The Assassin Season 2 trailer reveals that Edward and Kayla got married in the time between Seasons 1 and 2, but something went horribly wrong on the honeymoon.

While Edward (played by Freddie Highmore) doesn't want to take his mother's help yet another time, Julie might be the only one who can get him out of this new trouble.

Edward and Julie team up to save Kayla in The Assassin Season 2

As The Assassin Season 2 trailer reveals, Edward and Julie's (played by Keeley Hawes) relationship will get tested as they go on a mission to rescue Kayla (played by Shalom Brune-Franklin). Edward is extremely reluctant to work with Julie given what he discovered about his parentage at the end of Season 1.

At the end of Season 1, it was revealed that Julie wasn't Edward's biological mother. She had killed his biological father, Jean Luc, and believed she killed his wife, Marie, as well, who she thought was Edward's mother. In reality, Marie had survived, and as she revealed, Edward was born through a surrogate, and she wasn't his biological mother; someone else was.

But since Julie didn't know all that, she thought she had killed both of Edward's parents. Feeling guilty he would be left alone, Julie adopted Edward and raised him as her own. Edward has a complicated relationship with Julie now that he knows what she did.

As The Assassin Season 2 trailer reveals, Edward will need to ask Julie for help in the upcoming season. Edward and Kayla got married but did not invite Julie. As Edward tells Julie in The Assassin Season 2 trailer, Kayla was taken by unknown men during their honeymoon. Given Julie's past as an assassin and her skills, Edward will need her help to find his wife.

While Edward knows Julie is probably the only one who can rescue Kayla, he is reluctant about taking her help. Given what Edward has recently learned about his parentage, he doesn't want to take Julie's help, but he is the one who asked for it.

Besides finding Kayla, we can also expect Edward to finally track down his biological mother in Season 2, something that he set out to do at the end of Season 1.

Besides Hawes, Highmore, and Brune-Franklin, The Assassin Season 2 will also star returning cast member Devon Terrell as Ezra Cross. New cast members joining the show are Arnaud Binard as Bastien, Natalia Tena as Inspector Cortez, Boris Van Severen as Titus, Jacqueline Boatswain as Isha, Monic Hendrickx as Louise, and Karl El-Santos as Torres. Mehdi Regragui, Casimiro Aguza, Tony Corvillo, Amin Hamada, and Lolo Herrero star in undisclosed roles.

The Assassin is created and executive produced by Harry and Jack Williams. Other executive producers of the show are Sarah Hammond, Daisy Mount, Alex Mercer, Keeley Hawes, Freddie Highmore, and Hamish Wright. The production companies behind the show are Two Brothers Pictures, All3Media, and Hermit Productions.

The Assassin Season 2 will be released on Prime Video, ZDF, and Stan on November 6, 2026. Season 1 is streaming on Prime Video and Stan.
