The Boys Season 5 finally dropped on Prime Video this Wednesday, with the first two episodes of the superhero satire dropping together. The first two episodes set the tone for the remaining six episodes, a tone marked with the trademark humor and death associated with the series since its inception. Moreover, we also finally know the release date and time of the ongoing season.

It should be noted that Amazon did not reveal the release time of the first two episodes until they dropped on the streaming platform. But now, we know at what time the remaining six episodes of The Boys Season 5 will stream on Prime Video every Wednesday.

"In the fifth and final season, it’s Homelander’s world, completely subject to his erratic, egomaniacal whims. Hughie, Mother’s Milk, and Frenchie are imprisoned in a “Freedom Camp.” Annie struggles to mount a resistance against the overwhelming Supe force. Kimiko is nowhere to be found. But when Butcher reappears, ready and willing to use a virus that will wipe all Supes off the map, he sets in motion a chain of events that will forever change the world and everyone in it. It’s the climax, people. Big stuff’s gonna happen."

The Boys Season 5 premiere reunited the titular characters after being separated for a year (the events of the season 4 finale happened a year ago in the show's continuity). After that, The Boys test out the virus on Soldier Boy and two other supes. Soldier Boy appears dead along with the two supes, but he wakes up in the closing minutes of the second episode, revealing that the virus is not potent enough. But one of the premiere's biggest moments was a major death.

A-Train dies in the fifth season:

The first episode of The Boys Season 5, "Fifteen Inches of Sheer Dynamite", ended with Homelander executing A-Train for his betrayal. However, before Homelander killed the Speedster, the latter called the psychotic supe pathetic. Showrunner Eric Kripke addressed the reason for killing A-Train in The Hollywood Reporter interview:

“I was initially resistant to killing him off that early. It was a little scary to kill him off so soon. We had actually broken out [an alternate storyline] that was like: Where is he now, what is he doing, and how can he help The Boys? — all that stuff was in process, so it’s not like we didn’t have it. We knew that he was going to be the first big death. At the time, I think we were thinking maybe episode three. And it was the writers who really campaigned for it — it’s their fault. They campaigned. They were like, ‘You keep saying that nobody’s safe, and that it’s going to be a season where anything can happen at any time. So with all due respect, put your f***ing money where your mouth and show that you’re willing to drop a major character in the first episode. Because if you do that, then for the rest of the season, no one is going to feel safe.’ And I thought it was a winning argument. So some of the storylines we were talking about — like reuniting with his brother and really choosing to be a hero after starting out as kind of Han Solo character — were this three-episode arc, and we did the greatest hits version to get it down to an appropriate sendoff in the premiere.”

Two episodes of The Boys Season 5 are currently streaming on Prime Video.
