Valerie’s journey comes across an array of complications in The Comeback Season 3 Episode 2
The Comeback Season 3 Episode 2 starts with Valerie and Billy driving to Brandon Wallick’s office for the meeting. In the car, Valerie makes a video where she speaks about going to Brandon’s office. Brandon is the new head of the studio. Billy assures that it is a definite offer, while Valerie is not that confident. She opens up about her discomfort with the “whole AI writing thing.”
She is also worried about whether it is legal to do so. Billy tries to assure her once again, pointing out that she should not bring up the legality of AI and be a “star” instead of being a lawyer. This episode of The Comeback Season 3 continues with Valerie and Billy entering the meeting room only to find it completely empty.
Right at that moment, Brandon appears on the huge screen in front of them, ready for a meeting via Zoom. He apologizes for conducting the meeting on Zoom and also introduces the whole team who will be working. Ridley Macintosh, the head of marketing and sales of the company, introduces herself to Valerie. She is also a crucial part of Brandon’s team.
They begin to discuss Brandon leaving YouTube to become the president of NuNet. She also continues discussing Brandon’s passion for the project. Hearing Ridley speak about the apps, Valerie also talks about the show she was on.
This episode of The Comeback Season 3 continues with Ridley continuing to give the idea that she has, which is to mitigate the cost of content with breaks in the programming. This break will be used to advertise products. Valerie is not quite happy with the idea. She then asks about the AI of the whole project, which makes Brandon stop the Zoom meeting right away.
Billy is not happy with Valerie’s actions. However, Valerie adds that he should have asked Brandon about it. Right at that moment, Brandon arrives in the room. Brandon then continues to tell Valerie about the AI writers behind the project. Josh and Mary Abrams are the writers for the project, and they will be assisted by Allassist, the AI program of the company.
Valerie is extremely happy to hear that there will be writers. She then asks if the Writers Guild is in agreement with this, to which Brandon agrees. Valerie agrees right away. This episode of The Comeback Season 3 continues with Brandon asking Valerie and Billy to keep the AI part of the project a secret, as it has “bad branding”, so after the first six episodes, they are going to reveal the information about the AI to everyone, not before it.
After leaving Brandon’s office, Valerie and Mark visit a restaurant where they discuss the view. Things take a turn when Mark notices Greg at the restaurant. He becomes restless and asks to leave right away. However, before they are able to leave the restaurant, Sharon calls her to meet Jane Fonda, ruining Mark’s plan to escape. Sharon then begins to ask Valerie about her project with NuNet, as she is the executive producer for the project.
Sharon then asks Valerie if she would consider her for the project, as sitcoms are her favorite. On the other hand, Mark had to speak to Greg. While returning home, Mark speaks about his conversation with Greg. This episode of The Comeback Season 3 continues with Valerie grocery shopping.
She comes across Jane during the checkout. Jane then speaks about the debts that she owed. Jane asks Valerie about her work. However, it can be understood that she is not happy to hear about Valerie’s success. She also tells Jane that the show is written by AI.
At the end of this episode of The Comeback Season 3, Valerie and Billy go to the executive producers' meeting for the project. At the meeting, Valerie comes across the writers for the show. She then finds out that Jimmy Burrows passed on this project, which Valerie was not aware of.
She then visits Jimmy at his house to speak to him about the issue. At his house, Jimmy tells Valerie that he will not be joining the show. However, while Valerie comes out of Jimmy’s house, she tells Jane that Jimmy has agreed, raising the intrigue for the upcoming episode of the series.
