The Day Of The Jackal Season 2 adds two new actors in series regular roles

The Day of the Jackal is adding new faces to its cast for a second season. Peacock and Sky’s charged thriller onboarded Weruche Opia and Pablo Schreiber as series regulars.

After the creative revamp of 2025, this update stirs the buzz again. Eddie Redmayne's debut season was strong in its impact. The launch in the UK was remarkable, and the U.S. performance was also not very far behind.

The Day Of The Jackal Season 2 adds two new actors

The elite assassin named Jackal is the central figure of the show. This is a man who has to change identities to avoid scrutiny constantly. Precision, patience, and anonymity define his work.

He targets a powerful and influential figure. Then, he is eventually drawn into a lucrative yet risky payoff, but also carries extreme personal and professional risk. More details about Opia and Schreiber’s arcs and characters are currently being kept under tight wraps.

Opia's launch to fame happened with I May Destroy You. The co-star, Schreiber feaured in Halo and Orange Is the New Black. Their addition suggests season 2 will be packed with new conflicts.

Not only in the casting of The Day of the Jackal but also in the creative force, a major change is happening. Ronan Bennett, who developed the series, is not involved anymore as the creator. He has already stepped away.

David Harrower replaces him as the showrunner and lead writer of The Day of the Jackal season 2. Harrower carries experience of working in Lockerbie: A Search for the Truth. Producers have not yet explained how the creative changes reflect on the show's second chapter.

Eddie Redmayne will be seen in his role again. He also has a few exciting projects lined up. He will feature in Later the War starring Tessa Thompson and Patsy Ferran.

Then he will feature in Panic Carefully, where he shares the screen with Julia Roberts and Scott Stuber. Eddie Redmayne is set to return in the lead role. His earlier projects include The Theory of Everything, The Danish Girl, and the Fantastic Beasts franchise.

Redmayne continues to balance film and television work as reflected by his upcoming and past projects.

Lashana Lynch was seen alongside Redmayne in the first season. The second season expects her return. Lynch has previously appeared in Captain Marvel and then again in No Time to Die, the fourth-highest-grossing film of the year.

No release window, concrete or otherwise, is available at this stage as the platforms have not declared any. Teasers and trailers are also not available. Still, with new cast members joining and a new creative voice guiding the series, The Day of the Jackal is shaping up to be a promising return.
