The Five-Star Weekend is Peacock's latest eight-episode drama miniseries based on Elin Hilderbrand's eponymous 2023 novel. The official synopsis for the series reads as follows:
"A food blogger, Hollis, tries to combat the loss of her husband, Matthew by recreating a five-star weekend with her friends on Nantucket."
When renowned social media influencer and food blogger Hollis discovered that her husband Matthew had died in a car accident, her world came crashing down. To cope with this loss, Hollis' publicist advised her to host a five-star weekend and invite one friend from each phase of her life.
As advised, the food blogger invited her three estranged buddies: childhood friend Tatum, college friend Dru-Ann Jones, and mom friend Brooke. While each friend fought for Hollis' attention, they were also suspicious of Gigi, a commercial Pilot and Hollis' social media follower, who seemed to have developed a very close bond with their friend.
The Five-Star Weekend followed five friends as they reflected on Hollis' relationship with her ex-boyfriend, Jack, who eventually arrived to join the gathering. The finale came with a shocking revelation about Gigi and her secretive romantic relationship with Matthew, which changed Hollis' understanding of her marriage.
Here's how Hollis found closure in the series.
The Five-Star Weekend finale ending explained: Hollis forgave Gigi
The Five-Star Weekend finale begins with a drunken Gigi passed out on Hollis' couch as the friends contemplated a way to take revenge on her. However, Hollis was in no mood for a confrontation and found herself in the front yard, where Jack was cleaning the gutters.
Jack's selfless act led to one of the most shocking confessions: Hollis had been having recurrent dreams about him, even while Matthew was alive. Hollis' bold admission forced Jack to confess his feelings about her, leading to a steamy kiss before they headed into Hollis' bedroom.
The Five-Star Weekend finale took a turn as Hollis found Jack making eggs for her in the morning. However, the couple decided to take things slow, and Hollis was headed for a much-needed confrontation with Gigi.
Matthew's mistress revealed that she initially befriended Hollis because she was seeking her own closure. However, Gigi revealed that it was time that Hollis learned the truth: that Matthew had chosen her and was driving home towards her (as confirmed by the police report) when he was killed in the car crash.
While the truth was in front of Hollis' eyes, it didn't change the fact that Matthew cheated. Hollis made peace with Gigi, sent her away with a goodie bag, and requested that she never contact her again. The women then gathered together and dumped Matthew's protein powder into the ocean, an act which became the ultimate closure for Hollis.
The Five-Star Weekend ending: How did the weekend change the friends' lives?

While The Five-Star Weekend started as a mystery thriller, it concluded on a heartfelt note, as each of Hollis' friends reflected on the transformational effects of this girls' weekend.
Hollis' childhood friend Tatum, who feared that Dru-Anne was taking her away from her, spent the weekend worrying about her biopsy results, especially because her mother died of cancer. While Tatum ended the series on a worrisome note, after the doctor revealed that there are indications of worrisome cells behind her breast tissue, she learned that not everything can be under her control.
Elsewhere, Dru-Anne finally neglected a call from her colleague in the name of work-life balance, and Brooke hinted at a potential divorce from her husband on a phone call with her sons. She ended the series by finally acting out on her growing attraction towards Sunny, the female tour guide she danced with last night.
As for Hollis, after bidding her friends goodbye and promising to meet next year, she returned to her natural habitat, ie, the kitchen. After an honest heart-to-heart conversation with her daughter, Hollis decided to spend her time with her family and invited Jack for a wholesome dinner.
The Five-Star Weekend did not conclude with Hollis beginning another romantic relationship with Jack. However, the series concluded on a hopeful note for Hollis, as she began her healing journey and aimed to start something special with Jack.
