The Forsytes Episode 2: A quick recap

The Forsytes Episode 2 begins with June asking Frances about visiting Louisa's store again. However, Frances doesn't let her. June was quite impressed with Louisa's work, and so were the other women of the Forsytes family. James' wife and daughter told James that they saw Jo and Louisa having an intense conversation. This made James quite suspicious of them.

Elsewhere, James wanted his son Soames to take over the family firm instead of Jo. However, Jolyon Sr., Jo's father, wanted Jo to take over. Jo, however, opposed several decisions of the firm, questioning the morality, which made him quite unpopular among its members.

Frances visited Louisa and asked her about her past involvement with Jo. After Louisa told the truth, Frances warned her to keep quiet since it would tarnish both Jo and Louisa's image.

However, Jo paid another visit to Louisa, and there he learnt that Louisa's children were his. He cried his heart out and introduced himself to his children. James saw him leave the shop. After Jo reached home, he confessed everything to Frances. However, June overheard the conversation, and it broke her heart.

Meanwhile, Soames was clearly smitten by Irene. Irene didn't want to give up her ballet dreams. When she got an opportunity to audition in Paris, she sold her jewelry to cover her expenses. When Soames learnt about this arrangement, he was heartbroken. He didn't want to lose her, but he also didn't want her to give up her dreams. He offered to accompany her to Paris. During an opera, June has a brief interaction with Phillip Bossiney, who gave her a pamphlet on Fabianism.
