Channel 5's hit period family drama, The Forsytes, is finally coming to PBS Masterpiece this March. It is set to premiere on Sunday, March 22, 2026.
This six-part television series is directed by the duo Meenu Gaur and Anetta Laufer and written by Poldark's Debbie Horsfield. It is inspired by Nobel prize-winning author John Galsworthy's hit novel series, The Forsyte Saga. However, the story is not entirely based on the novels. In fact, it follows the events that happen before the novel's plot. This is the third TV adaptation of Galsworthy's novel. Filming mainly took place in Bristol. Later, Italy and Wales were added to the filming locations, as well. Before the UK debut, the series was already renewed for a second season, and filming began in June 2025.
The series is set in the late Victorian period. It delves into the lives of the titular upper-class stockbroker's family. It taps on elements of love, loyalty, class tension, and social inequality.
The Forsytes are the upper-class Victorian family of stockbrokers. But when tension rises due to generational clashes and differences of opinion, trust breaks, and the business seems to be in danger due to emerging threats. Some find themselves torn between traditions, social norms, and their true happiness. Here's what we know about the series.

Is there a trailer for The Forsytes?
Yes, there's a trailer for the period drama on PBS Masterpiece, but before that, let's roll into some key details of the series. The plot revolves around the members of the uber-rich stockbroker's family. The family that would go any lengths to accumulate wealth. The synopsis of the series reads (via PBS Masterpiece YouTube):
"The Forsytes have built their empire on the pursuit of wealth, power and respect. But now they are dangerously out of control. As they struggle to maintain their supremacy, they are forced to answer the most profound question of all: “Can we afford to be human?”
So if you are a fan of series like Downton Abbey and Bridgerton, look no further, The Forsytes is a perfect pick this March.
The trailer begins with absolute chaos. It introduces two rival cousins, Soames and Jo Forsytes, both aiming to secure the position of head of the family firm. But it does not come so easily. The real chaos begins when the brothers fall in love with women outside their social classes. Jo is torn between heart and duty, while Soames needs to fight societal expectations. It's scandalous, emotionally messy, and full of secrets and betrayals.
