The Gentlemen Season 2 concludes Eddie's revenge with a brutal death - ending breakdown inside

Theo James' Eddie is back in The Gentlemen Season 2, the sophomore outing of Guy Ritchie's action-comedy series on Netflix.

The first season of The Gentlemen saw Eddie inherit his family estate after his father's death, only to discover that it was home to a huge weed empire. It's hard to believe that an army officer of the United Nations could transform into a dr*g kingpin. But The Gentlemen Season 2 made Eddie's transformation even more brutal and dangerous.

The latest season saw Eddie eyeing a seat in the House of Lords to derail a bill set to decriminalize marijuana and expand Bobby Glass' empire to Italy with Susie, which landed him in trouble with the mafia's El Capo dei Capi, Marco Moretti.

Eddie's partnership with Susie and Bobby was threatened when he sparked a romance with an Italian countess, which sent him on a self-destructive path of vengeance that closed the season with a brutal death.

Eddie was a man on a mission in The Gentlemen Season 2

While Bobby's elaborate ruse in the Season 1 finale, which forced Eddie and Susie to eliminate their rival bidders, paved the way for an exciting partnership, the second season flipped the script on that plot. The first few episodes of the sophomore season established how Eddie broke away from both Susie and Bobby and partnered with Marco. Eddie's new partnership also paved the way for his romance with Bella, an Italian countess.

While Eddie was determined to break ties with Susie and Bobby and start a new empire with Marco, with his wife Bella by his side, The Gentlemen Season 2 had other plans. Tragedy found the newlyweds when Bella died in a plane crash, just before the couple was set to leave for their honeymoon. The determined businessman was transformed into a bereft husband, seeking vengeance for his wife's death, and Marco added fuel to the fire.

Convinced that Bobby was responsible for Bella's death, Eddie managed to hire an Italian hitman with Marco's help, who was sent out to kill Susie's father.

The Gentlemen Season 2: Susie saved her father

Things were tense between Eddie and Susie ever since the former's wedding in The Gentlemen Season 2. But Susie was determined to save Bobby after learning that her father had bought the £100 million debt Eddie owes to Stan. By the time Eddie realized that Bobby was not the real killer (as he wanted him alive), the Italian hitman was already on his way to Bobby's sauna to complete the task at hand. No points for guessing that Eddie raced against time and managed to save Bobby after the duo killed the hitman.

Susie, who saw Eddie as unstable, could not understand why her father bought Eddie's debt. But Bobby believed Bella’s death would become the turning point Eddie needed to step up and take charge. Bobby's thoughts were echoed by Stan, who took charge and advised Eddie to use his self-destructive energy to take control, paving the way for the finale.

The Gentlemen Season 2 ending explained: Eddie fulfilled his revenge

The Gentlemen Season 2 took a turn in the finale when Geoff got his hands on a phone number from the man who was tortured in the beginning. The man claimed that the number belonged to his boss, who ordered the hit on Bella. However, it turned into a dead end as the number was fake, and Eddie shot the man dead.

However, a casual dinner with Sabrina and Freddy revealed Bella's real killer. While trying to piece together the mystery, Eddie sat down with Freddy at a small table to talk. During their conversation, Freddy inadvertently let a detail slip that confirmed that he was actually the one who masterminded the sabotage and killed Bella. However, Eddie was confident that his brother had outside help from none other than John "The Gospel" Dixon, the head of the Scouse crime family.

The final confrontation between John and Eddie took place in a four-walled, closed space in the middle of a warehouse, where John confessed that he helped Freddy kill Bella to avenge his brother Tommy's death (who was killed by Eddie in Season 1). John revealed how Freddy's presence fulfilled Tommy's absence in his life and that he helped Freddy claim his place in the underground dr*g empire by killing Bella.

While Eddie left John alive, he paid a visit to Freddy at his housing facility and confronted him about Bella's death. When Freddy refused any responsibility, Eddie beat him to a pulp and held a gun to his head.

This is where The Gentlemen Season 2 finale delivered its final twist. Just when Eddie pulled a gun to Freddy's head, a black van pulled up with a gagged John and one of Eddie's men holding a chainsaw inside. It was clear that Eddie wanted Freddy to kill John and avenge Bella's death for him.

Reluctantly, Freddy got in the van. The final moments of The Gentlemen Season 2 saw a bloodied Freddy holding John's severed head. Eddie looked pleased with how he avenged Bella's death, and the season came to a close.
