Netflix's black comedy crime drama, The Gentlemen, has been renewed for Season 3. Created by Guy Ritchie, the series features Theo James as Edward 'Eddie' Horniman, a former Army captain who works as a UN peacekeeping officer. Eddie is also the 13th Duke of Halstead. The show follows Eddie Horniman, who unexpectedly inherits his father's country estate, only to discover that it is home to an underground cannabis empire tied to the criminal underworld.

The Gentlemen Season 2 ends on a brutal note and teases that Eddie could turn into a full-blown crime lord in the upcoming season. Throughout Season 2, Eddie Horniman had been shot, nearly beaten to death, and even buried alive, but survived. In the end, Eddie finally took revenge for his wife's death. However, he spared Freddy's life, which left the viewers wondering what's next. Eddie could have easily killed his brother, but he knew that would've destroyed his family. Thus, he offered Freddy a choice to end Gospel John's life instead.

Freddy didn't think twice before killing Gospel John, his partner-in-crime, with a chainsaw. However, this makes it clear that Freddy is now in debt to his brother. In The Gentlemen Season 3, Freddy might be forced to be Eddie's weapon. Will Freddy be an obedient enforcer or a ruthless survivor? The finale ends with one thing: Eddie's goal to protect his family's legacy. Thus, by Season 3, he could turn into a crime lord willing to destroy anybody who would come between him and his motives.

Here's more about it.

The Gentlemen Season 3: Will Freddy be Eddie's obedient enforcer?

Things turned ugly in Season 2 when his newlywed wife, Bella, was killed and his ancestral home of Halstead Manor was attacked. All Eddie wanted was revenge. Bella was killed by his older brother, Freddy Horniman, and crime lord rival "The Gospel" Dixon. Freddy turned bitter when their father had written him out of the will, while Gospel John blamed Eddie for his brother Tommy's death.

Gospel convinced Freddy that he was robbed of his birthright, and they planned to rig Bella's airplane, eventually killing her. They also kidnapped Charlotte and Nanny's son, Tarquin.

However, Geoffrey, Eddie's right hand, saved Tarquin. When Eddie learnt about the attack, all he wanted was revenge.

Eddie reached the rehab centre and brutally beat Freddy. They brought Gospel John, now Eddie's prisoner, in a van. Susie's men forced Freddy to execute Gospel using a chainsaw. After a while, Freddy stepped outside the van with John's severed head, and Eddie said,

"Good boy."

So why did Eddie let go of Freddy? It turns out Eddie's mother, Sabrina, had begged him not to kill his own brother. After the gruesome incident, Freddy has turned into Eddie's deadly weapon. He is now likely to be Eddie's obedient enforcer.

Bella's death hardened Eddie in The Gentlemen Season 2

Moreover, Bella's death had severely affected Eddie and hardened him. It pushed him into a saga of revenge and darkness. If Eddie continues on this dark path, violence could be his ultimate way of solving problems. Speaking to Collider about his character, James revealed,

"I think what you're starting to witness is the idea of a good person, but the tendrils of a sociopath. When you're born into that level of privilege, and you couple it with this ability to kill people, that's a pretty dangerous combination."

Will Eddie challenge Bobby Glass in The Gentlemen Season 3?

With his growing ambitions about expanding his family's legacy, Eddie might challenge Bobby Glass in the upcoming season. Eddie and Bobby's dynamic became complex by the end of the latest season. Bobby attempted to kill Eddie. Marco sent a hitman to kill Bobby, assuming he was behind Bella's death. Eddie saved Bobby's life, and elsewhere Bobby bought Eddie's debt from Uncle Stan. However, in an interview with Collider, James asserted,

"I think Eddie can't forgive him (Bobby). You're waiting for when and how he's going to avenge, because he will."

Season 2 wrapped with several unanswered questions. For instance, will Eddie reveal to Marco who was behind Bella's death, or will he cover up? Will Freddy be an obedient enforcer for Eddie, or will he turn into a rebel? Will Sabrina intervene?

The Gentlemen is available to stream on Netflix.
