The Husband is among the latest romantic thrillers on KBS2 and Disney+ with Namkoong Min and Lee Seol playing the titular roles. The story is about Kang Tae-ju, a successful and respected neurosurgeon who also serves as the director of a hospital.
He seems to have a perfect career, but his personal life is falling apart. He's married to the hospital's chairwoman, and their relationship has become distant over time.
However, just one day after their divorce conversation, an unexpected event completely changes everything. Se-yun suddenly disappears after being kidnapped. And instead of just being a worried husband searching for his missing wife, Tae-ju soon finds himself in an even worse situation.
The story moves forward in the latest episode 9, in which Tae-ju becomes convinced that Dr. Ha was never the true mastermind behind the conspiracy. He starts suspecting Dr. Ko, while Detective Do-sik also questions the seemingly perfect evidence that closed the case.

The Husband episode 9 recap: Tae-ju starts to uncover a new conspiracy

The Husband episode 9 shows that Tae-ju is now convinced that the truth behind Dr. Ha’s death is much more complicated than what the police believe. While the investigation believes that D. Ha is behind Se-yun’s kidnapping and illegal practices, Tae-ju is thinking something else.
Based on everything he has uncovered so far, he believes Dr. Ha was only a pawn in a much larger conspiracy rather than the person pulling the strings. He then starts to focus on his father-in-law, as he thinks that he's pulling the strings from behind.
At the same time, senior detective Do-sik also begins doubting the investigation after noticing that the evidence against Dr. Ha appears almost too perfect. This situation forces him to think that a powerful figure may have manipulated the case to reach a convenient conclusion.
Episode 9 of The Husband also reveals the heartbreaking truth about Gyeongae's past: for years, she believed that she did not receive a surgery because of her criminal past. However, the truth is that her application was rejected because the hospital wasn't gaining any financial benefit from her.
Tae-ju and Se-yun find out that the hospital only prioritized patients who were connected to the hospital sponsors. This reveals that the place is full of corruption and has been deceiving patients who were denied treatment only because they didn't have enough money to satisfy their greed.
This also leaves an impact on Gyeongae, as she used to believe that her past was the reason she didn't receive surgery. But now, she knows about the corrupt system and the truth that his past mistakes were never the actual reason.
The Husband Episode 9 ending: Man-hee's rage and a deadly cliffhanger

Investigation continues in episode 9 of The Husband, and Man-hee is completely unaware of everything that happened. He has escaped the authorities and is worried about Gyeongae's condition. He's afraid of losing her, and that fear is gradually consuming him.
His bottled-up grief and frustration finally explode when a grocery store owner casually mentions Gyeongae after seeing the news. The comment wasn't meant to provoke him, but Man-hee couldn't control himself and ended up killing that man right away.
He still wants revenge and steps into the hospital with a knife. Once he spots Se-yun, he immediately rushes toward her, believing she is responsible for everything that happened to him and Gyeongae.
At the same time, Tae-ju realizes that Se-yun might need his help and rushes to save her. And just when viewers are about to know what's coming next, episode 9 of The Husband ends on a deadly cliffhanger.
