The Idaho Murders: College Nightmare director believes killer deliberately targeted victims’ house

The Idaho Murders: College Nightmare covers the 2022 murders of four college students who went to the University of Idaho. Three out of the four victims were women, who were roommates, and shared a house in Moscow, Idaho, with two more female roommates, who survived.

Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle, and Kernodle's boyfriend, Ethan Chapin, were killed in the early hours of November 13, 2022. While Chapin was a male victim, The Idaho Murders: College Nightmare's director believes that the killer targeted the house all the room mates shared most likely because he hated women.

As The Idaho Murders: College Nightmare reveals, the college students were not random victims. Madison, Kaylee, Xana, Dylan, and Bethany lived in a three-story house on King Road, Moscow, Idaho. As the documentary series reveals, the mobile data of Bryan Kohberger, the killer, confirmed that he had visited King Road multiple times before the murder.

Those visits, however, stopped after the murders took place, which is one of the things that made the police suspicious about him. The director of The Idaho Murders: College Nightmare, Skye Borgman, believes that Bryan Kohberger targeted the house specifically because all the residents of the house were women.

As The Idaho Murders: College Nightmare director told Fox News Digital,

"The fact that [this] was the house that he chose. This was a house that had five women living in it. The night that the murders happened, Xana Kernodle’s boyfriend, Ethan Chapin, was over, but really, this was a house full of women, and it seems quite clear that he targeted it,"

Kohberger couldn't have known for sure that Ethan would be at the house that might. But the fact that he killed three women and targeted a house that only had women living in it makes Borgman believe that the killer hated women. As Borgman also said,

"He watched the house; he was around the house in the days, weeks and months leading up to the murders,"

He added,

"So, it seems pretty likely that he had a very low regard, if not hatred, for women."

Bryan Kohberger pleaded guilty to all the murders and was charged with four counts of murder. He was sentenced to four consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole. However, his motive behind the murders has not yet been revealed.

Borgman's belief that the killer hated women might hold some weight. Kohberger was a TA as he was pursuing a PhD in criminology at Washington State University. During his time as a TA, he was under review due to multiple women complaining about his conduct. Moreover, as The Idaho Murders: College Nightmare reveals, Kohberger's old online posts suggested he had an unnatural interest in crime and what it'd feel like to commit one.

The documentary also reveals that he wasn't exactly well-liked by his class mates. Most women he interacted with weren't comfortable with his demeanor. Borgman also states,

"And we look at this incel movement and the question of whether or not he was an incel, and whether or not he didn't like women."

He added,

"It seems to me that there was a hatred of women there,"

Borgman's words and the experiences of women who interacted with Kohberger are quite similar. Given his history and what he has done, Kohberger might just have intended to kill just the women but had to kill Ethan too because he happened to be there that night. All his past actions strongly suggest he hated women, which prompted him to commit the murders. However, we will never know what his motive really was until he reveals it himself.
