The Institute Season 2 was confirmed by MGM+ in August 2025, and now the trailer for the new season has been released. Based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King, the first season followed Luke and his friends as they finally realized what the institute was doing and escaped.

While Luke Ellis, Kalisha, Nick, and George, among other children, escaped the institute at the end of Season 1, it wasn't the end of their struggle. The trailer for The Institute Season 2 shows the children and Tim Jamieson trying to expose the institute and stay safe, but a dangerous new threat is coming their way.

The Institute Season 2 trailer reveals more children being exploited and a new character

The trailer for The Institute Season 2 begins with Tim trying to make others understand what the institute was doing. Understandably, most don't believe him. The children, who are now in hiding, can only have fresh and normal lives if the institute and every single person connected to it are exposed.

Thus, the children and Tim will have to go to great lengths to make people believe that the institute really committed the crimes they did. What makes the situation worse is that a different group of children is facing exactly what Luke and his friends faced in the past. The group thus realizes that the only way to end that program and bring the institute down for good is to do it from the inside.

Luke will thus use Sigsby to get information about the facility. William Smith is running the facility with the help of Nolan Reeves (played by Alfie Allen), a European tech billionaire. Nolan, like everyone who thinks the institute is doing important work, doesn't care that children are being torn away from their families; he will be an antagonist in The Institute Season 2.

Tim, Luke, and Luke's friends initially wanted to just expose the institute, but now they have a greater purpose. They now have to save the other children as well and destroy the institute from its root so that it cannot exploit any other children. For that, they will have to risk their own lives, but as the trailer reveals, nothing will stop the group from achieving their goal of destroying the institute.

The cast members reprising their roles for Season 2 are Joe Freeman as Luke Ellis, Ben Barnes as Tim Jamieson, Mary-Louise Parker as Ms. Sigsby, Simone Miller as Kalisha, Fionn Laird as Nicky, Arlen So as George, Robert Joy as Dr. Hendricks, and Hannah Galway as Wendy.

The show is developed and executive produced by Benjamin Cavell. Other executive producers of the show are Jack Bender, Gary Barber, Sam Sheridan, Shane Elrod, Ed Redlich, and Stephen King. The production companies behind the show are Spyglass Media Group, Sashajo Productions, Nomadicfilm, and MGM+ Studios.

The Institute Season 2 will premiere on MGM+ on November 8, 2026. Season 1 is streaming on MGM+.
