The Judge Returns Episodes 9-10 recap: Han-young’s power move as Shin-jin’s plan unravels

Han-young’s power move as Shin-jin’s plan unravels in The Judge Returns Episodes 9 and 10

Episode 9 of The Judge Returns starts with the revelation that Hwang Tae-song passed despite the poor marks he received only because of Judge Hwang’s interference in making sure his son’s future is secure. After the retirement of the Chief Justice, Judge Hwang is next in line to take over the position.

Han-young wants to make sure it does not happen with the information about favoring his son. Hwang also took bribes to frame a victim as a perpetrator in a case 18 years ago, which was his father’s case. As this episode progresses, Han-young visits Seon-cheol to discuss with him about recruiting Baek Yi-seok. Seon-cheol initially does not believe that Han-young’s words can work out; however, after he lays out his plan, Seon-cheol agrees.

Se-hee is surprised at the meticulous manner in which Han-young handles the situation with her father. After Han-young and Se-hee have dinner, they begin to spend time together. Se-hee tells Han-young that her family does not need a son-in-law but rather a slave and a puppet for the firm; however, he already knows that. It can be understood that Se-hee truly cares about Han-young’s well-being.

The article about Justice Hwang’s son getting unfairly hired by JB Construction is published, which makes him reach out to Kang Shin-jin for help. Kang Shin-jin gives him the assurance he needs; however, things begin to spiral. Han-young meets Baek Yi-seok to tell him about his true intention to side with Shin-jin. He also tells him to become the Chief Justice so that he can deliver justice.

Yi-seok gets called by Seon-cheol to discuss the present situation. He also tells Yi-seok that he wants him to become the next Chief Justice. Han-young’s plan progresses just the way he wanted to. He also adds Jin-a to his plan and tells her about his desire to bring down the “devil of the judiciary,” Kang Shin-jin. Just as Han-young asked Jin-a, she began her acting in front of Seong-dae to trick him.

They do convincing acting, making Miracle-Asia appear more legitimate. Seong-dae manages Shin-ijn’s funds; hence, bringing him in will eventually lead Han-young closer to his goal to bring him down. At the very end of the ninth episode of The Judge Returns, Na-yeon finds unexpected information about Shin-jin, which makes him a far more dangerous opponent. Na-yeon finds that Shin-jin gets his backing by the former president, Gwang-to; hence, taking him down will not be easy.

The tenth episode of The Judge Returns starts with Han-young’s plan succeeding with Seong-dae investing 300 million won at Miracle-Asia just as he wanted to. Han-young celebrates the success with his friends. They are one step closer to bringing Shin-jin down. Judge Hwang gets more and more irritated at Shin-jin for not taking any action to protect his son.

However, Shin-jin assures him once again and tells him that he will become the Chief Justice, but he will need to give him what he wants, which raises further intrigue in this episode of The Judge Returns. Han-young, on the other hand, begins to think about how easy the case has been. He has the power to protect Hwang’s son, yet he did not receive a call from him.

He understands that he is being tested by Shin-jin. On the other hand, Shin-jin asks Hwang to bring him the record of all his illegal funds. He then puts all the information on a pen drive to check Han-young’s loyalty. As this episode of The Judge Returns progresses, Shin-jin finds out about Seong-dae losing the money, making him extremely angry at his carelessness.

Justice Hwang calls Han-young to give him the pendrive containing the illegal activities just as Shin-jin asked him to, as a form of test to check whether he is loyal to him. Hwang also tells Han-young to clear his son, but instead, he tells him that he will do no such thing and slaps him.

He also reveals the truth about his being the son of the person he wrongly put into prison. While looking at the pendrive, he understands that if he opens the pendrive, Shin-jin will know the truth. Seeing that Han-young did not open the pendrive, Shin-jin begins to trust Han-young fully.

As this episode of The Judge Returns progresses, Han-young visits Yi-seok to discuss the issue with Shin-jin. Yi-seok understands Han-young’s true intention in bringing down Shin-jin and agrees to become the Chief Justice to stop the corruption. Shin-jin, on the other hand, orders the assassin to kill Hwang’s son so that the case can turn in his direction.

Killing Hwang’s son and staging him as a suicide will bring in the sympathy of the people towards Hwang, leading him to become the Chief Justice. However, Han-young is a step ahead and saves Hwang’s son right in time. Hwang’s son then decides to do a press conference to reveal the truth about all the crimes his father committed, including his faults, putting Shin-jin further into a difficult position.

At the end of the tenth episode of The Judge Returns, Shin-jin finally gives Han-young the key to join the inner circle and share the power he has. He also takes Han-young to the inner circle, where powerful people of the system hold secret meetings. Han-young is completely shocked at the level of crime he is witnessing. The stage is set for the upcoming intense situations now that Han-young has created a place in the inner circle of the crime ring.

The upcoming episode of the series will now shed light on Han-young navigating through the newfound information. He is close to his goals; however, the path from here on is going to be even more difficult for him, as the opposition is extremely powerful. Shin-jin and the powerful people he has beside him will not be easy for Han-young to bring down.

The Judge Returns episodes 9 and 10 are an intense rollercoaster ride of emotions, depicting Han-young’s strive to play the long game to achieve his goals, along with the dangerous extent to which his Shin-jin can go so that he can achieve his goals.
