The Last Thing He Told Me is not appropriate for kids due to some of its content.
The show has a TV-14 or 15+ rating, which means that children below 15 should not watch it.
The Apple TV thriller explores intense themes and features strong language. The show has a few scenes that could overwhelm your kids, as it is about crime and fear. All in all, it is not a suitable watch for the kids at home.
Strong language, mature relationships, and themes on The Last Thing He Told Me
The Last Thing He Told Me might appear to be a slow mystery TV series, but the content is firmly adult. There is a limited amount of profanity in each episode, and the F-word is used many times, which already pushes it beyond kid-friendly viewing. It is not constant swearing, but enough to make it unsuitable for kids.

Romantic scenes between Hannah and Owen are also seen throughout the show. They kiss, and even though there is nothing "visibly sexual", it is mature content nonetheless.
There is also a really mild amount of nudity and again, even though it may not be that sexual, it still adds to the mature tone of what's being shown on screen. Once you also add in the occasional drinking, it becomes clear this is not a show made for children.
More importantly, the themes revolve around white-collar crime, broken trust, and the disappearance and death of parents. Marriage issues and stepparenting are central to the story.
Intense tension/danger and why kids might just feel far too overwhelmed
Even though violence and gore are mild, The Last Thing He Told Me always feels like there is danger that could come in right at any given time. The real intensity comes from the stress and suspense that runs through every episode. Ominous sounds, unsettling music, and tense confrontations are not something your kids would remotely enjoy.

Season 2 also raises the bar. In Episode 1 of Season 2, five years after Owen vanished, Hannah and Bailey are still living cautiously. However, when Owen suddenly pops back into their lives, the stability they had built starts to feel shaky yet again.
Soon after, a man posing as a gas worker attacks Hannah at home. She manages to escape using a hidden knife and rushes to Bailey as their survival plan kicks in. With emergency cash and a spare car ready, they go on the run again.
Scenes like this are extremely intense. The idea of being hunted or constantly unsafe can be frightening for kids. The show also portrays the fear of losing parents and living with uncertainty.
The Last Thing He Told Me is an interesting thriller meant for adults
Between the strong language, mature relationship content (although not overly sexual), brief nudity, focus on crime, and absent parents, the constant danger maintains a serious tone from the very start of Season 1 through to Season 2.
Hence, parents who're on the lookout for a safe family watch should skip this Apple TV show.
