According to TV Obsessive, Episode 4 of The Lowdown Season 2 begins with Lee and Johnny racing down the road with Lonnie in the trunk of Johnny's car. Lee calls Cyrus to arrange a meeting and retains Draymond for legal advice. However, Johnny and Lee find out that Lonnie has escaped. Lee has Lonnie's gun and badge. Cyrus isn't happy to get involved in the chaos. The next morning, Lee contacts Ginger. Lee tells her about Lonnie, the guy she shot. Lonnie is apparently a Deputy for Woodrell County, which happens to be the same prison where Nathan Spence died.

Later, Johnny fixes Lee's chipped tooth. Lee and Ginger then meet Jeff, a public defender in Woodrell. Jeff says that he represented Nathan Spence and provides some information about him. He says that he got Nathan into a diversion program. Another piece of information Jeff drops is that Nathan's mother has been bothering him for a while with a newspaper claiming her son's death is unnatural.

Jeff and Ginger meet Nathan's mother, but they do not gather much information from her. However, Nathan's mother seemed to believe that someone killed her son.

Elsewhere, Lee visits that local newspaper office and finds out Dale serves as editor. Lee confronts Dale for keeping quiet about Nathan's death upon the authorities' request.

The sheriff of Woodrell County is a woman called Vela Thorne. Lee finds her at a hog contest and confronts her about Nathan. She agrees to the interview if he goes through proper channels. Lee, however, has digestive issues due to the raw milk he gulped down moments earlier.

In jail, Lee learns that McMann is the sheriff's cousin. They threatened to pin Chili's murder on him if he did not tell them where Mekko was. Lee has no idea where Mekko is hiding.

Sheriff Thorne wants Lee to contact Ginger. As the episode ends, the viewers learn that Lee calls someone else. He dials the number written in his boot.
