Explosions, political conspiracies and globe spanning missions are all part of The Night Agent’s DNA. As season 3 lands on Netflix, the hit thriller once again sends FBI agent Peter Sutherland across continents. But while the story moves between Washington, New York and Istanbul, the production itself has its own fascinating travel log.
Here’s how The Night Agent turns real world locations into the backdrop for its escalating spy drama.
Filming locations of The Night Agent

The new season opens in Istanbul, which serves as the primary backdrop for the early episodes. Production spent nearly two weeks filming in the city, capturing sweeping shots of the Bosphorus Strait and scenes in historic downtown districts. Tüpraş Stadyumu also features prominently, adding scale and intensity to key sequences.
Creator Shawn Ryan has talked about how season 3 includes some of the most ambitious action set pieces the series has attempted so far, including a large scale car chase filmed on location. Talking to Entertainment Weekly, Ryan has said,
"We did do, I think it was 13 days of filming in Istanbul in December and one day in November. We've got some really amazing stuff. We introduce some new characters. We bring back some returning characters, and we filmed a car chase I think is going to be probably the most spectacular stunt sequence we've ever done on the show."
United States
After the Istanbul arc, filming shifted back to the United States. According to Netflix’s Tudum, New York State served as a primary filming location for much of the remaining season.
Washington, D.C.

Given that the storyline continues to revolve around the White House and federal power structures, Washington, D.C., was also used as a key filming location. For security reasons, specific sites were not publicly disclosed, but exterior and cityscape shots reinforce the show’s political core.
Mexico City And Tropical Mexico
Urban streets in Mexico City were used for additional espionage sequences, contributing a vibrant and kinetic atmosphere. Tropical locations in Mexico also doubled for certain high intensity action scenes, expanding the show’s visual palette.
Pinewood Dominican Republic Studios
Pinewood Dominican Republic Studios in Juan Dolio served as another primary production hub. The studio facilities allowed for controlled large scale setups, complementing the international on location shoots.
