The Night Agent comes with an intense storyline showcasing the journey through which Gabriel Basso’s Peter Sutherland goes while working as an agent. In the third season of the series, Peter found himself following a treasury agent who fled after taking sensitive information, the revelation of which could create huge chaos. It cannot be denied that from the beginning of the series, it could be noted that Peter’s life is filled with life-threatening dangers.

Though Peter and Rose grew a heartwarming relationship for the first two seasons, Peter understood the danger his presence in Rose’s life could pose. All he wanted was to protect Rose from any imminent danger. Hence, they decide to go their own ways at the end of The Night Agent Season 2.

Following these turns of events, Luciane Buchanan’s character, Rose Larking, is completely absent from the third season of this series. Luciane Buchanan, while discussing the next chapter of the series, indicates the fate of her character.

Possibilities of Luciane Buchanan’s Rose Larking returning for the next chapter of The Night Agent

While discussing the presence of her character in the upcoming chapters of The Night Agent, Luciane Buchanan notes that, though the writers decided that “they wanted to follow Peter and his journey based on what happened at the end of Season 2." This became the reason for Rose Larkin’s absence in Season 3 of the series, however, “it’s not a goodbye forever."

She continues that if there “is an opportunity” that could cater to the storyline and also “makes sense” for Rose’s return to the series, she is “sure” that the creators will explore it. Rose and Peter’s dynamic in the series is undeniable. The “audience loved” the relationship Peter shared with Rose.

Hence, Luciane Buchanan is “sure” that Shawn Ryan and his team “will find a little way”, maybe even “make a little cameo along the way”. Luciane Buchanan is not the only one optimistic about Rose’s return in the future of The Night Agent, as Shawn Ryan also is. He noted that he hopes that the “circumstances ultimately allow for the return of Rose” to the “Night Agent universe."

Shawn Ryan, while discussing the storyline of The Night Agent, indicated that they “always envisioned the show as telling a new story each season.” The first two seasons of the series depicted Peter taking on different cases, while the third season also shows him following a new challenge. There is a “revolving cast"; however, the story that Shawn Ryan’s team “broke for Season 3," much to their "chagrin," did not “have a satisfying place for Rose”.

Luciane Buchanan “respected” this decision as she wanted the story to make sense and not just add Rose to the storyline forcefully. The manner in which the third season comes to life, though there are occasions when Rose is brought into conversation, her absence can be felt.

Hence, with the positive nods of both Shawn Ryan and Luciane Buchanan, it can be expected that the upcoming chapter of this universe might bring back Rose to explore more of Rose’s dynamic with Peter, along with depicting an exploration of Rose’s life away from Peter.

Luciane Buchanan is also eager to have a spin-off, which will only focus on Rose’s story. She adds that she kept “hinting at that, and they’re like, come on”. She notes that a spinoff focusing on Rose could show her “behind the computer doing some things," as she does not have to specifically be “shooting guns”.

Though there is no official announcement about the fourth season of The Night Agent, with the immense success that the series has been receiving with each season, viewers can expect the series to continue bringing new seasons.
