Netflix has released an official trailer for The One About Matthew Perry, a three-part documentary that takes viewers beyond the Friends star's famous Chandler Bing role.
Matthew Perry made audiences laugh as Chandler Bing across all ten seasons of Friends, appearing in more than two hundred episodes from 1994 to 2004. But there was much more to his life beyond the character, and the upcoming Netflix docuseries takes a closer look at the person behind the famous role and his personal struggles.
It is being directed by Mary Robertson, famous for Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV. In the trailer released by Netflix on its social media handles, viewers also see unseen footage along with interviews from Matthew Perry's close ones, including his sister.

The trailer for the upcoming Netflix docuseries The One About Matthew Perry opens with old footage of Perry on television. In the background, his voice can be heard saying,
"Making people laugh. It's a world that I want to be involved in."
In another clip from old footage, Perry recalls asking God to do anything he wanted with him, as long as he could become famous. He then recalls getting a phone call that made him realize his life was about to change.
The Netflix docuseries, The One About Matthew Perry, also features interviews with people close to Perry. In one clip, his sister Mia Perry Bowick says that every great story has both comedy and tragedy, and that this was certainly true of Matthew's story. She also recalls how her brother would often talk about a feeling of emptiness or loneliness that he struggled to fill.
In the trailer of The One About Matthew Perry, his sister reveals that Perry spent around $7 million trying to get sober, showing how seriously he approached his recovery.
Perry died on October 28, 2023, at the age of fifty-four. The trailer also features footage from after his death, showing the flowers and heartfelt messages left by fans as they remembered the Friends star. The trailer also includes interviews with Matthew Perry's friends, who appreciate and admire the actor's humor and the impact he left on their lives.

Perry's sister, Mia Perry Bowick, also gave a statement to Tudum saying that he had a big influence on the person she became and the work she chose to do. She described Matthew as kind and caring, saying that even during his hardest moments, he could still make people laugh and feel loved. Speaking of The One About Matthew Perry, she added:
