The Paper Season 2 brings back the chaotic employees of Toledo Truth Teller publishing company. The new chapter begins after the newspaper wins an award at the Ohio Journalism Awards and editor-in-chief Ned Sampson is determined to investigate the Glass Club, a secret local private organization.
Ned thinks the investigation will give the paper a lot more publicity. Meanwhile, he’s secretly seeing Mare Pritti, which only makes their working relationship more complicated.
Meanwhile other employees like Esmeralda, Detrick and Nicole continue their development as journalists but have to deal with various problems involving podcasts, severe weather, HR matters and their own plans.
After several complications, including Mare temporarily joining the Cincinnati Chronicle, Ned ultimately hands over the hard-won story to her at the end of The Paper Season 2, choosing to earn her respect and prioritize their connection and the paper's integrity over personal glory. As for Mare, she faces a career choice involving bigger opportunities.

The Paper Season 2: Ned's investigation becomes a test of his priorities
As The Paper Season 2 begins, the investigation against the Glass Club becomes really important for Ned. Initially, he thinks of the story as the major journalistic mission he has been looking for, especially after the Toledo Truth Teller’s success at the Ohio Journalism Awards.
