The Penguin creator Lauren LeFranc is backing HBO’s intriguing new mystery Imposter

The journey of writing Imposter while working at DreamWorks Animation to get offers from HBO, Amazon, and Netflix has not been an easy one for Kalos Chu. The storyline of this series dives into the story of an "outsider" as he tries his best to make his place at an “elite university”.

The Penguin creator, Lauren LeFranc, will take the helm as the executive producer for the series.

Lauren LeFranc backs Kalos Chu’s Imposter

If Imposter lands on HBO, it will mark Kalos Chu’s debut in screenwriting on a professional level. After graduating in 2023, Chu has worked in multiple companies with a dream of pursuing a “career in screenwriting," according to his essay. While working at DreamWorks Animation, he used his free time to write Imposter.

According to reports, after selling the script of the series, he will leave his job at DreamWorks Animation, where he worked as a feature development assistant. Chu graduated with a BS degree in English from Harvard. It is also reported that Imposter received 10 offers.

This is a direct indication of the distinct quality of the storyline that Chu's series has. Through the years, Chu has interned at several companies, including Day Zero Productions, Nickelodeon Animation, etc. Besides Lauren LeFranc, who will be the executive producer for the series, Rachel Jacobs will also be the executive producer. LeFranc’s contribution to the world of entertainment has depicted her ability to deliver breathtaking storylines.

She was the showrunner for The Penguin, which received an immense positive response from the viewers. The Penguin dives into the story of Oswald “Oz” Cobb. The series received multiple nominations and awards, proving LeFranc’s distinct prowess.

LeFranc noted that though there were certain imaginations regarding the storyline being set in Gotham, she was able to deliver “Something special and different”.
