Fans of HBO's The Penguin are eagerly anticipating Season 2 of the DC series.

However, Cristin Milioti's recent statement indicates that we may have to hold our horses for a bit longer.

The actor, who portrays Sofia Falcone in the series, discussed the second season in an interview with Deadline during the 2026 Sundance Film Festival. In her statement, she mentions that there has been no confirmation yet. As she says:

"There's no official word on anything."

Keep reading to find out what Cristin Milioti's comment means about the future of The Penguin.

Here is what Cristin Milioti's comment means about The Penguin Season 2

A spin-off of Matt Reeves' The Batman, this series has gained huge popularity amongst viewers across the world. Set in the aftermath of the events that took place in the 2022 film by Reeves, The Penguin explores the plot of Oswald 'Oz' Cobblepot's takeover in the gangland of Gotham City.

Having received impressive ratings on Rotten Tomatoes and IMDb, with a score of 95% and 8.6/10, respectively, it has definitely left fans wanting more. In particular, Season 2 is highly anticipated amongst the DCEU enthusiasts.

When Deadline posed the burning question to Cristin Milioti, she stated:

"Yeah, there's no official word on anything. And I would love nothing more. Truly."

Upon which, actor Topher Grace, who joined her in the interview, candidly added his thoughts as he remarked:

"I would like to chime in on this and say, whoever is in charge of making that decision — 'What are you doing?'. This is the greatest thing I've ever seen on TV. We got to have a season 2."

Milioti's comment suggests that, regardless of any official confirmation of its development, she is quite enthusiastic about exploring her role as Sofia Gigante in the future of The Penguin. Rather than giving an ambiguous answer, the actor chose to give a clear answer whilst maintaining confidentiality and also not crushing the hopes of the million fans. Alongside, Grace's comment completely echoes the audience's true sentiment towards the series.

Whether or not HBO makes the ultimate decision to expand the series into a new season is something we have to patiently wait and watch out for. Initially, when The Penguin arrived, it had not really promised us any pledge to make it into a series with multiple seasons.

Therefore, depending on several aspects such as logistics, creative decisions, timings, etc., they can take the final call about its future. Unless HBO officially confirms its development, all information regarding The Penguin Season 2 is just hypothetical.

For now, the audience can sit back and relax whilst they re-watch Season 1. In this waiting time, they can relish the compelling performances while dissecting and analyzing the series, episode by episode. This will help bring more fresh perspectives and theories about the series. In this way, the harmony between fans and the series continues to persist.
