After last week's breather, The Pitt Season 2 Episode 7 sets up the eighth episode. The closing minutes reveal the real reason behind Westbridge Hospital's shutdown: a cyberattack. As that happens, the PTMC IT team shuts down the hospital systems to protect itself from a possible attack. The medical team, as Robby suggests at the end of the episode, is going analog in the next episode.

Thus, the medical team is poised for another grueling hour in the upcoming eighth episode. The official synopsis for the upcoming episode of The Pitt Season 2 reads:

"In the wake of an IT shutdown, Princess must manage a completely analog ER. Al-Hashimi, Mohan, and King assess a woman with sudden blindness."

The Pitt Season 2 Episode 8 release date

The eighth episode of the second season will be released next Thursday. Like the previous seven episodes of The Pitt Season 2, the eighth episode will stream on HBO Max at the same time. Here's when you can catch episode 8, "2:00 P.M.," on HBO Max next Thursday:

  • Pacific Standard Time: 06:00 PM, February 26, 2026
  • Eastern Standard Time: 09:00 PM, February 26, 2026
  • Indian Standard Time: 07:35 AM, February 27, 2026

  • Australian Eastern Standard Time: 12:00 PM, February 27, 2026
  • Central European Time: 03:00 AM, February 27, 2026

As the official logline for the next episode teases, we will see the team go old school to treat the patients, as the IT team has shut down the PTMC's computer systems in the closing minutes of the latest episode. It should be noted that the C-suite consulted Al-Hashimi instead of Robby. Creator R. Scott Gemmill addressed this in a TV Line interview published after the seventh episode. The reporter asked:

"When the C-suite consults Al-Hashimi about the cyberattack instead of Robby, it's hard not to read that as a shift in internal power dynamics. Is she actively positioning herself for Robby's job, or is this more about the administration's longstanding concerns about his leadership that were first voiced by Gloria in Season 1?"

Gemmill answered:

"It's probably a little of both. She's trying to establish her territory within the ER. She has specific ideas about how to improve things, and some of those are counterintuitive to what Robby would like to do. There is friction there. But she also knows Robby's going away for three months, and this will be her responsibility. She's trying to make the place in her vision [because] she knows how she likes to run things. They're jockeying for position. Fortunately for both of them, he's leaving and it will be in her hands."

The officially released promo for The Pitt Season 2 Episode 8 shows Robby prepping the team up for analog. All the young doctors are a bit taken aback by the lack of digital support. As that happens, Robby and Al-Hashimi have another confrontation about the way they work. He is a bit miffed with her for not giving the team time to prepare for the shutdown.
