The Pitt takes home the Emmys for Best Drama Series, beating out a tough field of nominees

HBO Max's The Pitt has won the Emmys for Outstanding Drama Series, coming out on top against some of the night's biggest contenders. The other nominees in the category included The Diplomat, The Gilded Age, Paradise, Pluribus, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, Your Friends and Neighbors, and Slow Horses.

The Pitt has been having quite a night at the Emmys, and the Best Drama Series win is a pretty big moment for the show. R. Scott Gemmill took the stage to accept the Emmys award for the entire team and spoke about how thankful they are to be part of a night filled with so many talented people. He said they feel lucky to be part of the industry and pointed out that making a show takes hundreds of people working together. Gemmill also gave a special shoutout to the cast and crew of The Pitt, saying they are incredibly talented and put so much passion into the series.

Speaking about The Pitt, Gemmill said they have always wanted to keep The Pitt real and tell stories about the real people who work in emergency rooms. He said these are the people who are there for us every day, and the show wants to put the focus on them and the work they do.

However, Gemmill made it clear during the Emmys speech that his words were not only about The Pitt. He also spoke about the wider TV community, saying that many of the people in the room likely feel the same way about their own teams, adding that one of the best parts of the job is getting to work with so many talented people every day.

Gemmill also spoke about how these stories can sometimes be difficult, frustrating, and heartbreaking, but they can still be very important and even help people heal. He said that, as entertainers, their job is to make people laugh and make them cry. He further added that when he looked around the room, he saw something bigger than just the awards, as he saw a whole community of people trying to do the right thing through the work they create. Gemmill, towards the end of his Emmys acceptance speech, said that the work they do can change people's lives, and he feels happy that they get the chance to do that through their work.
