The real villain in Final Project was hiding in plain sight all along 

The latest suspense-themed Mexican teen series, Final Project, was released on July 29 on Netflix. Unlike the long-form series, Final Project consisted of twenty episodes with a duration of only seven to nine minutes each. The series revolves around a bullied teenage student, Tamara, who gets teased for her looks by Xavi, the person she soon falls in love with, and Samantha.

However, after she gets attacked by Pato and Samantha, she makes it out alive only to return with a whole new identity and take revenge on the people. As the story continues, dark secrets come out, and in the end, Daniel, Tamara's friend from the beginning, is revealed to be the real villain behind everything.

Final Project recap: Tamara transfers to a new school, only to face bigger problems

Final Project shows a teen girl named Tamara moving to a new school in the hope of a better start. However, her journey in the new school is not as smooth as she expected, as she soon becomes a target of Xavi, a bully who grew up with a negative view of women because of his father's actions. However, Xavi's plan doesn't go as planned, as he soon starts developing feelings for Tamara.

But their journey isn't as smooth as they thought, as Tamara soon becomes a target of Samantha, Xavi's girlfriend, who teams up with Pato to play a prank on her for her own fun. Pato and Samantha go to Xavi's house, call Tamara there, lock her inside a coffin after drugging her, and hit her on the head.

Xavi soon learns what happened to Tamara, but he is unable to save her. On the other hand, Samantha and Pato blackmail him to help dump her body.

Yes, Tamara does make it out alive, but instead of going back with the same identity and becoming a target once again, she decides to change her appearance and her name to Violeta to take revenge on her bullies. She even gets proof of Pato confessing to everything.

Final Project ending explained: Who was behind the messages?

Another mysterious angle in the series comes from the messages that were sent to people, leaving everyone worried about who knew the truth. On top of that, Violeta, who is Tamara, also becomes a target of these anonymous messages.

Turns out, it was none other than Daniel, Tamara's friend, who was sending the messages all along, as he was working on his documentary. Daniel kept an eye on Violeta all along and wanted to push the narrative that Xavi was behind everything that happened to her.

He even kidnaps Xavi and attacks him with a hammer while recording him. But Violeta soon realizes Xavi's absence and goes to find him. Daniel tells Xavi that while he found it initially stupid to include Xavi in the documentary, he later became obsessed as he watched his videos.

But the question remains, why did Daniel do it? Turns out, he just wanted a great ending for his documentary that he was recording all along.

Final Project ending explained: What happens to Xavi, Violeta, and Daniel?

In the last episode, Violeta comes into the room where Xavi was kidnapped while livestreaming the complete scene and even manages to hurt Daniel. The police reach the place on time, secure warrants against Xavi's father, Pato, and Samantha, and save Xavi. However, the authorities tell Violeta that Xavi will stand trial, but he can be released on bail after leaving the hospital.

As for Daniel, the police tell Violeta that he will likely face charges of aggravated assault and obstruction of justice. The series ends on a happy note, with Violeta and Xavi getting a fresh start together.
