Reasonable Doubt Season 3 premiered on Hulu on September 18, 2025, and ran for 10 episodes until November 13. The story follows Jax Stewart as she defends former child actor Ozzie Edwards, who is accused of killing his girlfriend, Wendy.

The season begins with a glimpse of Jax discovering a dead body in her house. The story then moves back six months, when Jax and Lewis are trying to rebuild their relationship after the affair and painful family events from Season 2.

When Wendy, after a fight, vanishes and is discovered dead close to his family’s cabin, Ozzie becomes a suspect in the murder. His parents, Sal and Rosie, have been handling his career for years, and his relationship with Wendy is becoming more and more complicated.

Later, Jax’s investigation uncovers Ozzie’s past sexual abuse at the hands of his former manager, Monica, which began when he was just 13. His addiction, troubled behavior, and his family’s manipulation become important parts of the defense as the case goes to trial.

Reasonable Doubt Season 3 recap: A look at the family secrets, personal problems, and the truth about Wendy

While Jax is preparing Ozzie's defense, she's dealing with personal problems in life. Her estranged father, Eddie, returns, and she discovers she has a half-sister, Chelsea. As explained by Forbes, Jax's mother is diagnosed with cancer but undergoes successful surgery.

Meanwhile, Jax’s daughter Naima gets into trouble and learns painful details about Lewis’s past affair and the baby loss. In addition, Jax struggles with unfair practices at work while Bill is trying to achieve his aims and gets close to Sally.

While Lewis is dealing with work-related issues, Autumn, Jax’s friend, provides support to Ozzie and later welcomes a baby. During the trial, the defense challenges the prosecution’s account of Wendy’s death and raises doubts about Ozzie’s actions that night.

The truth in Reasonable Doubt Season 3 eventually reveals that Sal attacked Wendy after she threatened to expose the family’s secrets. With Kristen’s help, he moved Wendy to the cabin, where he ultimately shot and killed her. Kristen initially accepted blame and helped conceal what happened.

Ozzie wins his case and is found not guilty of killing Wendy. Although he is finally free, his problems are far from over, as his addiction and the damage from his past continue to affect him.

Ozzie spends some time with Jax’s family and sees what a healthy family relationship can look like. Jax cares about him deeply and treats him almost like a son, so she tries to help him get into rehab.

Jax arranges for someone to take Ozzie to rehab, but before he leaves, he decides to use drugs one more time. He overdoses in one of the children’s rooms, and Jax is the one who finds his body.

His death is especially painful because Ozzie had just been cleared of murder and had a chance to start over. It also explains the body Jax was shown discovering in the opening flash-forward.

After Ozzie died in the Reasonable Doubt Season 3 finale, Jax pushes Kristen to tell the full truth about Wendy. Kristen agrees to wear a wire and secretly records Sal admitting his role in Wendy’s killing, which finally leads to his arrest.

Other parts of Jax’s life also change. Lewis fires Sam after the problems at work, while Corey tells Jax that the firm’s partners had discussed pushing her out, but he refused to go along with it.

Autumn gives birth, while Bill becomes a partner at the firm. His promotion also shows Jax how unhealthy the workplace has become, and she decides that leaving is the right step for her.

Jax quits and creates her own practice, The Stewart Firm. Daniel and Krystal join her, giving Jax a fresh start with people she trusts rather than remaining in the firm that had worked against her.

Jax also confronts her father, Eddie, about their painful history and his intentions involving her mother’s illness. She chooses to step back from Eddie and Chelsea while she figures out what she wants from those relationships.

But Jax’s new beginning is immediately threatened. While she, Lewis, Daniel, and the others are together at the new office, Monica suddenly appears with a gun and starts shooting.

Reasonable Doubt Season 3 goes black before viewers learn who was hit. Season 4 picks up from this attack, with Jax’s family and new firm dealing with its aftermath as the danger surrounding Monica continues.
